We are a bit dying from the heat of 35C (95F) in shadow. In central europe its a bit different than somewhere at the sea or even desert (although ive never been in desert). Especially when its still 25C and sweaty during the night.
Iam looking forward to some rain or Tstorm.

I guess 2 days at the Cabin is going to have to count as my "summer vacation".
Here is a time lapse of the river on a busy Saturday.
I think the guy who runs the canoe livery should focus more on his pot growing business.

Hang glider guys in town. Big wind so not much flying and I didn't get to drive. One guy's shirt said, "Okayest hang glider ever". Another sort of crashed at launch. One side lifted up and he was blown off the launch ramp. No injury.

Reporting live. An ambulance and six police cars including the animal control truck two houses down the block (this one) ... now there are three cars plus animal control. Guess that's it for today's excitement.

Plumber is fixing my gas pipes. There are new pipes in the ground.
Update 12/15/19: Plumbing mostly done. Plumber returns Monday. Then inspector. Then gas company. I estimate 1/4 of the cost is due to regulations requiring things of no practical benefit.

That's a long time without a hot shower.
Enjoy one of the finest benefits of civilization when he's done.
Reporting back, the lake froze over here -beautiful clear ice, so smooth... but too thin to skate on.
Then it snowed a little followed by rain and goodbye smoothness.

I have rejoined the primitive world. I have fire! I have taken a blazing hot shower. Soon it will be 80F or 85F in here thanks to my fire powered heater. I am eating eggs cooked with fire! The gas company reconnected me today.

There. I went ice skating. Mostly sunny, thin high overcast, 14 F / -10 C . GPS says 3.09 miles / 4.97 km; a little snow but not enough to matter much. Smooth but lumpy. Too bumpy for any high speed stuff but enjoyable anyway. Didn't fall down. # LakePointeSkateReport

This weekend was the annual hang glider fly in. High winds discouraged most pilots but a few arrived and they got to fly some. A video for 2017's fly in is there too (link). I haven't made 2018's video yet.

A bit cooler than usual here all Spring. Gimme back my heat you heat theives!
What's interesting, at least in the short term, is how chilly much of the world has been this year so far. Heat waves will be reported. Season long chill and record lows will be memory holed.

"I guess it feels different tho". I hear that. I was born in East Texas. Almost a swamp with sweaty wet air. Here, desert, it's usually over 100F for weeks this time of year while I work outside. Dry air no problem. Don't want to do that in your wet air.

Not a surprise. When I worked for the railroad almost 50 years ago, the ripyard would be scorching hot because of all of the metal in the yard. One could get a second-degree burn just leaning on or touching the metal.

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back
Was a hot day yesterday. Had all the windows open and suddenly this gloved hand pops around the half open window, trying to pull it open further. I live on the first floor so there was this bloke standing on the rain cover outside the window, having climbed out of the hallway window in the wall next to it.
I ask him what he's doing, says he tried knocking on the door and I didn't answer. He wanted to repair the window. After that he climbed back in and got the heck out of there on his bike.
Damn opportunistic burglars.
Spent the rest of the day on the phone with the police and various property managers trying to figure out if any of the cameras in the area were actually turned on and not dummies.
Turns out they were dummies.
A forensic officer came by later in the day and examined the windows but the guy was wearing gloves and the floor was dry so no foot prints or prints of any kind.
Got a good look at the guy though and gave a full description. He was wearing a breather mask but only around his neck so I got a full look at his face.
I was supposed to be working...
The guy cost me a days work, basically.

Did they catch that guy Mikom? I'll guess they won't be able to identify him with mask and no cameras. Did you describe his bike for the police?

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back
Well, while he was wearing the mask around his neck, he wasn't wearing it on his face at the time so I got a full look at him and gave that description to the police.
The bike was a regular black sports bicycle like there are so many of here in London.
Yeah it was a good thing he wasn't armed but then again, he wasn't exactly in a good position to do anything seeing as that trying to climb in through the window would have put him at great risk of falling (either accidentally or due to me pushing him out, should it have come to that). So he just made his way back to the other window as fast as he could before running the hell away.
They haven't caught anyone so far. The police did give me a free "smart water" kit for tagging valuables with a unique chemical ID code so that if anything should be stolen but recovered, it can be returned to us.

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back
To protect public safety, PG&E has turned off power due to gusty winds and dry conditions combined with a heightened fire risk. Once the weather subsides and it is safe to do so, PG&E crews will begin patrolling power lines, repairing damaged equipment and restoring customers.
Outages (weather event plus restoration time) could last longer than 48 hours. For planning purposes, PG&E suggests customers prepare for outages that could last several days.
Over a million people without power for four days now and still counting!

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back
That's a cool hobby Steinie. Congratulations to the happy couple!
I wish Spacekdet would report back. Starting to worry if he's ok.
The mowing season is over now. I look forward to my winter break. Some weeds, odd jobs, and the leaves could fall soon. Otherwise, I'll post an update on my Christmas CG video soon and I drove for the hang glider and paraglider Columbus Day event. The road up the mountain was destroyed so I had four wheel drive fun. There were two powered paragliders this time.

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back
It has been a mild Autumn and Winter. Barely freezing at night. So some weeds have grown and customers have interrupted my hibernation with a little work.
I tried to order a computer fan from Microcenter.com (no nerd stores in my town, nearest larger town 60mi/96km away). They would not accept my personal debit card or my business one. There is no problem with either. So I ordered one from Wal-Mart's website. The order pickup column inspired this meme: A new gas station has gas with no ethanol. The truck likes it but at 50 cents more per gallon I don't know about continuing that. Maybe other stations will get it and competition will reduce the price. I'll certainly use it for my lawn tools.

Typically I'd be sweating at night now. This spring I'm not even using the AC much in daytime. I guess there will be no inferno for my inferno hike this year.spacekdet wrote: 23 May 2020, 22:29I took the plastic off the windows. Winter damn well better be over.
Hang glider Memorial Day fly in was this weekend. Subdued due to the virus so no evening feasts but several pilots arrived and had good flights. The road was terrible so driving their trucks was fun. A distance record from this launch was set. 198 miles to Santa Rosa. Another pilot went almost as far. "The Men of Action" * arrived with their unusual 4WD foreign van. Amazingly they had no trouble getting to and from the launch with their van even though some 4WD trucks, or their drivers, could not. A lost smart phone run over by cars was found. It still sort of worked, owners contacted, phone returned. One pilot's go pro camera fell from his glider into remote rough terrain. I'd like to have one so I want to search for it. A "needle in a haystack" scenario but it could be a good hike.
Not much video this time so my video this year is mostly for them to analyze their launches.
* Men of Action is my nickname for the "4WD van" group. At a fly in years ago I observed them being very indecisive about going up to the launch or not. Their inability to decide and absence of an Alpha to take charge was humorous.

Move quick and you can ping with your wifi on your phone, but only as long as the gopro cam batteries last. (hint: not long)Finis wrote: 25 May 2020, 17:09 One pilot's go pro camera fell from his glider into remote rough terrain. I'd like to have one so I want to search for it. Newer models may be bluetooth as well, not sure since I don't own a new one.

what van was that? just curious...
Spacekdt: I guess he would need to go the same day, the batteries will last only little few hours at most.

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back
@Spacekdet What was I thinking? Of course if I found the go pro I should return it to the pilot. No time for hikes anyway. Sounds like the batteries are gone now but I let the "meet head", the fly-in boss, know of your tracking idea.
@Bitkar Mitsubishi L300 Delica https://duckduckgo.com/?q=L300+delica+m ... &ia=images Toyota Tacoma is the most popular among the pilots.

that is pretty lightweight and capable offroader with good tires... no wonder. Big trucks are just too heavy.

Good hike Bitkar. I envy your back pack.
The end of an era. I can no longer log in to my youtube account. I stopped posting anything years ago because yt/goolag is evil but I do comment on videos occasionally. I joined when you only needed an email and password. Now I can't log in unless I get a verification code sent to the email which no longer exists. Commenting isn't worth giving the evil ones real info. or making a new account with fake info.
The dunes are open now. Hot enough for a toasty hike. Not quite inferno this year.

Re: 3D Artists Reporting Back
The city Independence Day fireworks show was good. This year had a reverse parade. The floats and participants were stationary and the spectators drove by them. That was so people didn't gather along the usual parade route and spread cooties. There were not many floats or participants but it was nice.

Wavin' Hello to all.
To be honest, I stopped signing in when there was Another hack scare here. I'm too computer dumb to put up a good fight against these dirtbags so I rarely am on the internet much at all except for occasional research (I'ma trying to write a book). Life... what a trip huh?

@Spacekdet What fish live in the Great Lakes?
@Bitkar What wildlife is in CZ?
So I go to a store. There is usually an employee stationed at the door to tell people to wear a mask. Today there was a professional security guard there. So I'm in the store pondering the cosmic significance and meaning of this. Then the voice of a small child, loud, confident, and bold provided enlightenment. "It don't mean sh*t!".
