Another challenge with its own logo! Cool theme. I predict Steinie participation and characters. Dragon Santa would have what kind of elves?

haha!

Nice one... curious... Not sure how I'd do it. I guess it would be more of a sculpting exercise?

I see a problem with this Challenge, not many users here can do Characters. (sculpting)
Also this one is bazaar (even for me!) :bananadevil:
The dragon idea is cool but I can't figure out the connection of it being a Santa...
even your new logo for this Challenge shows a Dragon as a Reindeer not a Santa.
You may want to enlighten us further with your nose so bright?...

What if Santa Claus was a dragon?

Agreed most of us don't do characters or do them well but that makes the challenge challenging! I guess he doesn't have to be a sculpted fully detailed realistic organic creature. He could be a simplified style or robo-mecha-dragon-Santa with no sculpted organic parts. Just parts of the Santa Claws dragon (ha ha, I'm so clever  ) could be used. For example, just the tail going up or coming down the chimney.

Marcel has already modeled Dragon Claus' reindeer vi ... f=6&t=3627

Yeah, (really cool) logo has rein-dragon ...
Rudolf the no-fire dragon
Didn't have fiery flames
All of the other dragons
Used to laugh and call him names

Looking forward to Steinie humor and to everyone's imaginations on this one.

I might not do a great one since I have work/real world stuff and need to learn Blender before doing much more CG but I'll do something.

Hmmm... the tail down a chimney is a good idea. Or a tail with a santa hat on it sticking out of the fireplace. Or even.. a Christmas tree on fire! Haha!

I guess the crazy limits might.. come up with a fun idea...

My idea for Santa Dragon is too difficult for the challenge time limits. I want to do a old style (Flemish etc.) portrait of him. I might do a dragon's eye looking in a window into a room decorated for Christmas with the caption "He knows if you've been bad or good." But how to make just his eye show that he is Santa Claus?

Steinie are you getting in on this one?

Glad you're in Steinie. Maybe James too? I'm out. Have do real world stuff and it is time for me to stop saying I'll learn Blender and do it so CG time will go to that.

Shame you couldn't get the time Finis. I hope you change your mind. Like I said, even traditional 2D drawings are accepted if you're short on time.

I will try to make it into this challenge. If I start on anything it will probably be around this weekend... or the next, who knows.

Dragneye, if dragon santa feels wrong you could go with that for the art. Make the image feel wrong. Santa came to visit but he was nothing like what you'd been told ... or how about an alternate universe with dragons instead of people? What is Santa like and what do they want for Christmas?

Pugman1 is there a way to flip the UV map or the texture on export or import? It seems that even with the eyeholes filled in the texture would still not be matched to the UV.

Thinking about this one. Might be tricky as my time is VERY limited. I am moving houses, running family dinners, finishing up animation for my short film, 20 odd shots before January - and... well we'll see! I did have a week holiday just now though, ran around Colombia in a car with my girl. Was really nice... REALLY nice. Even went paragliding.

So anyway, want to jump in and contribute! Loving the results so far!

Its all good. May help us get back to finishing at end of month (like this next one can start now and end at end of Feb). Normally 3 weeks of creating, one week or so of voting, and on the 1st we face the new one. This way we all know the schedule.

If more people enter this one, I have no problem changing the deadline to Feb 21st, have voting end on Feb 27 and have a new one start on Feb 28th.
Everyone think this is a plan?

Remember in "Anything Goes" you could just enter a model and not a scene if that is what you think can win. I can't believe Time is an issue with this one. I am really after participation and having FUN! :bananamouse:

Well for me time isn't as much an issue when making the model itself but more like the amount of other models I have to make before I can get to this one.

Actually, the flying ships I made this weekend probably would have suited this challenge perfectly :P

I'm in and I'm ok with whatever you decide for the deadline. The modeling isn't the priority item for this one so there is plenty of flexibility to choose a simple or easy modeling scene for the short deadline.

Why aren't these comments in the comments thread for the Anything Goes challenge? vi ... =66&t=4687
