Welcome to all newcomers

Not my place to greet you all but this section is empty and I wanted to say hello to everyone.

Let's make this place a great replacement for the old Califorum.

Thanks Prodigy for the new community. Hopefully maybe MS will make the TS app Open Source at this point...would be sweet if they did. We have been making our own open source 3D Amusement Park Game called "Theme Park Builder 3D" for several years now and have many modelers. I have been pushing for TS users there as well since we have a mixture of differing modelers and their apps they are all using. TPB3D will be free run on Linux, Mac and Windows when done in about 1 to 2 years as the coding has been slow. But the modeling has been interesting and TrueSpace has been a big part of it as has a rival open source app that is tougher to learn.

Thanks again for this community. Hope it goes for a very long time and benefits many, especially if TrueSpace ever went open source...a hint for the MS folks ;)

Also like to say thanks very much to Prodigy for making a new home for us. When I heard about the cali closure what upset me most was what looked like the loss of the community. I may not post much, but I love reading about everyone's exploits and adventures. I hope they continue here.
Very best wishes

I am glad someone took the trouble to set this up. I have been "lurking" in the trueSpace forums for years learning from everyone. I will stick with TS for now although I like Silo quite a bit. Blender is useful as well but can never match the interface of TS. I don't regret spending the money on TS 6 to 7.x since I had access to the free older versions Caligari made available over the years. It was the only education in computer design I could ever afford.

Hi Kruick. A lot of people use more than one application in their workflow. So they
learn all the apps they use, one at a time. Although trueSpace will not continue
to be developed, it is still a very powerful application worth learning.
Blender is also free. In addition, most 3d apps offer a trial version.
I'd download a few, and see which one(s) suit you best.
Personally, I really like trueSpace, and the community here is very active, and very helpful.

Welcome aboard! :bananacheers:

A big "THANK YOU" from me as well, Prodigy!

I started with 3-D animation for a couple of years ago with True Space. It's sad that, what I think, TS in time is dissapearing.

However I will use the program as far as possible.

Please folks... let's try to keep some optimism. TS source will not be released but there is still a faint hope that the binaries will be distributable in the future. If the binaries are distributable there will hopefully be more users in the future.

tS 7.6 is available at CNET. I hope Microsofty and Roman decide to
continue to allow the release of ts 7.61 somewhere soon. It is not hurting
anyone by doing so.
If they don't I will bring out my Roman voodoo doll...if he thinks I was a pain in the
a** before... ;)

I have used True Space for a couple of years now and it's sad how all has ended but I will continue to use TS as long as possible. I am not a big fan of Bill and uses open sources program as much I can like Fireefox, open office and so on.

I think it's better with a Bill Gates voodo doll. Could it be possible to have one Bill in True Space which I could put the needles in?

Greetings TS users.

I purchased trueSpace, and kept paying for upgrades through version 6.0. At that time, I got tired of waiting for the next (paid) release to get bugs fixed, and finally just gave up on TS altogether. But I occasionally did connect back up to the Caligari site, and viewed the latest work by the brilliant artists that used the program (especially still images, but some animations were pretty cool.)

So, when I just poked my nose into the Caligari site, after not going there for a long, long time, I see that Microsoft bought them out and is now abandoning TS. That sucks. But, I was very surprised to see 7.61 as a free download, so I grabbed it and (with some slight difficulty), loaded it. It looks quite different than v6.0...

Anyway, this post is mainly to just say hello and establish contact, and I would ask a favor: can someone please clue me in to what else (in addition to the TS application) that I should immediately download? I would not bother with any paid plug-ins (I don't think), because... well, because it makes no sense to me to do that. But, there are probably some free "must have" plug-ins, textures, and training tutorials that I should be grabbing.

Thanks!

Dennis

{edit} I thought I'd use Robbie Rotten as an avatar so Prodigy's Sportacus would see a familiar face.
