Re: Your first picture with TrueSpace?
that's a pretty nice picture for a first time there Wigand!
I don't know if I even have a copy of my first picture. It's probably a
chrome sphere on top of a checkerboard grid.
Hm now I wonder how many people did that?
I think my first pic was done in PovRay.

Re: Your first picture with TrueSpace?
That looks a lot like tS2 & 3.
Loved that left-right-left click to open the Material Panel!
I dug thru floppies and found, of all things, an AVI file from April 1996.
Can't find my oldest stuff, the websites they were on are long gone.
But now I present to you, in all it's shimmery, unfinished, badly lit 1990's glory:

trueSpace had his tricycle as 3d Studio had his tea cup.
Interface of v1 is very near v6.6. It seem the first version of many soft is the most important thing for his future. v7 was a new way and we know what happens after that...

Re: Your first picture with TrueSpace?
Probably not my first image but one of my first ones. This was after I got VRay and while I'd been messing with the tutorials (had the south park videos as well so modelled the cartman head) I went on to create this for the SMC. The actual render I submitted was awful and I actually kept playing with Vray's settings and re-rendering until I managed to get this and I was so pleased with it. The render time was something stupid, 4 hours or something.
Far from perfect, but I like it all the same.

Don't have my first tS pic - think it was a primitive sticking out of a primitive that was partially textured and a light pointing in the wrong direction.

This kind of picture I would interpret as a test.jamesmc wrote:Don't have my first tS pic - think it was a primitive sticking out of a primitive that was partially textured and a light pointing in the wrong direction.
As your first picture it's ok if you show
a picture of your first real project.

Re: Your first picture with TrueSpace?
This is the earliest I could find but it isn't the first. From 2000. I tried to model from a real bottle that is square on the bottom and round on the top.

Square to round... did you use NURBS?

Re: Your first picture with TrueSpace?
Should have. I looked for a tool to take several shapes and wrap a minimal surface or other envelope around them. I'd seen that for nurbs somewhere. Didn't find it. Would have used it on a cube partly in an egg. So I just Boolean unioned them. The real bottle's transition is smooth.

Re: Your first picture with TrueSpace?
As far as I can remember, I never rendered my pictures, just took a screenshot and loaded it into the Gimp.
This is the earliest image I could find: I called this spaceship "the Quadronius", don't ask me why.
It was at the bottom of my "MY 3d models" folder in "MY pictures" and it also the earliest I can remember except my first model, a Cylon raider.

Welcome unklejman ! I like what you did. The forum is open for all software and it would be nice if you can show what you do today with 3d max. You can create a new topic for you here or show how you work on a wip. You can have also your own artist folder if you prefer.

Thanks marcel. I posted here a few months back, I think I even started on a challenge but work got really busy for me and I kind of fell off of the face of the earth.

Re: Your first picture with TrueSpace?
Wow, cool thread.
Here is my contribution:
My first render in TS 5.5 or 4, don't remember. I was only 14 years old when I did that. I accidentally deleted those files and scene and wept for a few days. It took me a long time to do it, and I was so excited, my first 3D stuff!!
It was mainly a modelling and learning TS 5.5/4 exercise.
