Short Term Plans

Don't be a Twit(ter), post your short term plan here!

Almost out of coffee; have to make a trip to Costco to get more.

If the wind picks up again, I might take the sailboat out.

I'll probably go see Transformers tonight. I should save my movie money for District 9 but I'll just be irresponsible and see that too. I think I'll see District 9 whenever it is in the theater ... have to check what earlier viewers say.

Edit: Saw it. It was fun but too long. I went to the theater to see the special effects on the big screen. I found that the motion blur removed a lot of the detail and clarity from the bots. The blur was needed with all the action but still ... When I could see the detail there was too much of it. Impressive modeling etc. though. The recent Star Wars movies were like that too but with too complicated textures. Looks like District 9 is a don't-pay-money to see it movie. Maybe when it is on TV.

I've got a week to prep the house and grounds for a family reunion that somebody (not me) thought would be a good idea to hold here at the house.

They're coming by plane, train, and automobile and somehow I have to keep them fed and entertained.

God I hope it doesn't rain.

Watching the rain out the window. Thinking I may need a boat to get out of here. The roads flood and there are many DEEP holes in them. Only one road in and out of here.
Of course, if we had a mud slide, we won't have a car to drive out until we dig it out.

English test tomorrow, hope get good grades I have study all afternoon!
Note: I'm at Brazil so my first language is Portuguese not English...
Will be 2 tests of English in one day, that's because I got off for one month because my parents get scared with Swine Flu, but I'm a unlucky guy and when I come back one week ago I just get sick and probably the Swine, I'm sure that it comes from school because my school friends get sick too. This week will be hard because is two tests per day for whole week and next week starts bimonthly test :? Aargh. So I think that I'll just add one more entry at SMC, I BLAME SCHOOL ;) anyway the next one will be amazing, I already designed it just need to convert to 3D!

Edit: I know that this post have a lot of grammar errors but I try better at tests...

Too much to choose from today. Motorcycle festival in a mountain town (not that much into bikes but lots to do there), gun and blade show here, watch hot air balloons from my yard (gone now so something else), take a nap, look for a better job, reassemble my camera, add a feature to business site, clean the heater chimney, wine festival in the park (don't drink but probably other things to see too), do TS, go hiking ...

I just slept yesterday. I wonder why there is so much stuff happening this weekend? Maybe I'll do something today. Hey! More balloons! Low over my house. I can hear the fire.

Edit: I went to the motorcycle festival and gun and blade show but both were mostly over and the participants mostly gone. The mountain town was almost deserted ... will be until the skiers show up later. There were some bikers still in the tourist area.

I got a combo plate. That cost two hours pay but it was good. Margo's restaurant. Most of the food is made there from scratch. The appetizer, as always, was tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa is just hot enough to make your nose run. Just right. There was guacamole made from real avocados, a beef tamale (spiced meat with chopped peppers wrapped in cornmeal wrapped in a corn husk and steamed) with green jalapeno pepper sauce topping, two chili rellenos (big peppers stuffed with cheese and covered with batter and deep fried) with green sauce and cheese topping, two cheese enchiladas (rolled corn tortilla stuffed with cheese cooked in oven) with green sauce and cheese topping, refried beans and tea. Huge plate. I had to bring some home.

DeChristmasification -- lol
"comes in a can" Yeah, but you have non-frozen seafood. Snowed here so no work today. I got calls from two potential employers. Maybe I'll get a better job.

Kayak? Cool!

I'll write to the tribal offices of the Dine ("The People", Apaches) for permission to go the top of a 12,000 ft mountain. The peak is on their land and special in their traditional ways. I know that people just go there but I'll ask. If they don't tell me no and there is no keep out sign then I'll go.

Cleaned out the garage FINALLY. Now we can walk in there.
Had a lot of boxes and stuff, not yet 'broken down' for storage.
We are keeping the boxes from the move, for the next move.
Most likely, the next move will be a local one.

Working on things related to trueSpace. If there's interest I will
try to open up the port for FrooSpace / FrooServe. I had trouble
with this LinkSys router before, but then again, I didn't know how
to setup port forwarding. Now I do. Haven't been able to do it
since there's so much sh*t in the computer room still. Need to put
stuff away in the file cabinet.

Hang gliding Memorial Day Fly-In today through Sunday. There will be a lot of them from all over jumping off of the mountain. I'll go up and watch, maybe help some (hold front or wing tips until there is good wind for launching), and drive some trucks back down. Good day for it: Sunny 93F.

Drivers are highly valued by glider pilots and spectators who hitch rides during the Fly-In. Drivers often receive money or restaurant meals. The real benefit is getting to drive the four-wheel-drive trucks on the rough road. Maybe I'll get to drive the locally legendary truck "Brahma": 1950 something, mucho power, cue ball on the shifter ...

Drizzle today.
Last three days for my students and today I took a glider airplane, with some effort, from the club ((http://www.gsfk.se" ) all in swedish) to show how a glider is working. Almost no interest. Have we to go out in the rain??? was the answer. A few tried out the airplane. Almost a fiasco but now I home again and reading posts in tscommunity and all is well again.

No work today. I want to go to Wild Boy Falls. Problems though:
-- It flows during monsoon season, now, and the spring snow melt. Miles of dirt roads, to get close enough for a day hike, are probably mud roads now.
-- It could rain after I get there. Stuck in the mud way out there.
-- I'm poor. 20 miles straight line from my house but it is 50 miles of mountain driving. Shouldn't spend money on gas, risk truck damage, risk injury ...

Mmm, clouds over the mountains. Not today.

And <sniiiifff> you got <snooorrt> glooo fumes! <thud>

Like an idiot, I bought a U-Bake pizza at the bakery.
It's currently 88 F (31 C)

Short Term plan is to cook, along with the pizza, while I think of all the money I saved by buying a U-Bake pizza compared to ordering one already cooked.

Well, it's that time of year again...
I could be up north at the cabin but instead I'll be smearing on sunscreen and baking on the tarmac for 8 or 9 hours...
this is gonna be great!

You get an airshow?! Green with envy. Have fun!

Been a while since there was one at the nearby AFB. I like the Thunderbirds. There was a B2 stealth bomber at a past show but they wouldn't let anyone near it.

I'm also green with envy. I really would like to se a B-17 flying fortress. Sweden never got involved in the second war. We were "neutral". This is dubtful since we were shipped iron to Germany and in the same time took care of refuges from nearby contries occupied of the Germans. During the second war where were a lot of B-17 which landed on Swedish ground. One crashed nearby my wifes parents house. I really would like to see one inside!

Some of the slurry bombers, planes that fight forest fires, are old bombers converted to a new use. They fly over town and stop at the airport.

I'll get an economical new video card for my computer. My Nvidia 7600 no longer works. I suspect heat since it is overclocked and room temperature is frequently 80 F to 90 F. The built in video doesn't support the native 1600 x 900 resolution of my new monitor.

Drive 2.5 hours north to shovel the snow off the roof of the cabin.

Then, shovel it away from the log walls so when it melts (it is gonna melt, right?) it doesn't flood or promote rot.

Then, drive back home.

Around here, this is what's known as a 'vacation'. :bananamouse:
