Are you working on the Model side of trueSpace or workSpace side?
Any examples of the object you want to work on?

I'm interested in both sides (but I prefer the workspace view even if I know that the model side is more complete).
I want to build clothes for (and upon) human characters.

Hey Mick.
Sorry for the delay; too much stuff goin on.
First; what level of detail are you looking for, in the clothes? What style are your characters? Realistic? Cartoonlike?
I am not a specialist in clothing characters but starting a dialog will help others more advanced offer tips, and we can all learn in the process.
Are you short on time? Got a deadline?

Mick,
You could create clothes using the point edit tools like Jim B
does it.
vi ... 49&start=0"
You could also just select the polygons on the model themselves, enlarge their size
giving the appearance of clothing.
vi ... =32&t=1911"
Another method would be to select polys on the model were a shirt would be for example, copy selection, separate object,
enlarge slightly then modify using the "soft paint brush" tool.

Thank you froo and Steine.
I would like to create realistic and high detailed clothing (and I have all the time of the world  )
I've seen steine's post and it has really good explanations but I would like to build characters with an advanced level of detail.
Thank you in advance. :)

Steinie's way is the only way I can think off.. all you need to do is add good texture shaders of cloth folds with bump maps to make it look very realistic...

Using "Make Human" and "Poser"
http://www.free3dtutorials.com/clothing.php"

Dynamic Clothes using "Poser"
http://www.free3dtutorials.com/dynamic-clothes.php"

Other programs now have a "Shell" function that works on
open polys for this very reason.

Other then the methods I previously mentioned trueSpace is behind
the other apps when it comes to creating realistic clothing.

There are several ways of making clothing for your character/figures. It can be done through a texture map or you can start fresh by modeling.
One of the ways I will make clothing is actually quite simple but very effective.
I will give you step by step instructions on how this is done.

1) Load your model/figure into TrueSpace.
2) Make a copy of the model/figure and move it to the side as you will use this later.

This is the cartoon crow model I loading into TrueSpace. Make a copy of your model and then move it to the right or left of the original.

3) If your figure consists of several parts, you will need to use the hierarchy to drill down to just the area you want to make clothing for. You can see I have only the main body selected.
4) Un-glue this part from the rest.

5) I wanted to make a shirt for the crow, so I used the delete face tool and deleted the faces where I want the shirt to be.

6) Next I delete everything except the area I intend to keep.

What you have left is the raw version of the shirt.

7) Now move your copy of the model/figure back into place and align the polygons up of the shirt to that of the model/clothing.
8) You will need to do some resizing of the shirt to make it work, in this case I rescaled the shirt and then used Point Edit: Vertices until I got the shirt to where it was on the outside of the model/figure.
9) This is just the basic, you can now add wrinkles to the shirt or deform it in any way you prefer.

I hope this helps you in creating clothing, feel free to ask questions.

Just so you know TrueSpace 4.3 was used to make this entire character.

I'm lookinjg for some sites to take a look at street-styled cycle clothing.
Not sure where to start. Anyone have any suggestions? :bananaguitar:
