Fresh trueSpace install. Are there suggested updates?

Post by Isaac »

I've just changed OS, and plan to reinstall all things trueSpace (CD's and plugins, etc...).

I'm wondering if there are any suggested additional developments [plugins/patches/scripts and the like] that I should consider installing; stuff that I may have missed in the years since. Any suggestions are most welcome; I've been out of the loop for years.

*I do have the 7.61 installers.

And once you've installed trueSpace 7.61, try out the Update 3, a great update compiled by trueblue and Clinton.

And if you are a MS buff, try out this awesome update by Celulo. He did a great compilation of ALL the addons you could ever wish for in the MS.

Thank you Draise. it's been quite a while since I've used trueSpace in serious a project. I think I will need to re-learn most of it.

I think this one is my most recent:

Thank you Steinie. I am in the middle of a full OS reinstall, and so far, I have not managed to get a stable trueSpace install that I can work in without risk of random crash. I know this is always a risk, but it's presently too common an occurrence to spend time on any projects. Hopefully this will change. Hopefully I will not have to revert to trueSpace 4 or 6, but that's an option.

Welcome Isaac!

I can't see whatever you put after "I think this one is my most recent:" There is space there but no image.

TS is great but if you are having trouble getting it to work why not move to new software? With TS discontinued and unmaintained it is time to learn a new program anyway. Blender is getting quite powerful.

Just keep the trueSpace 7.61 bridge off, and I think you'll avoid crashes.

This seems to be a Firefox bug when displaying HTML5 video content. I cannot see it either, but I am used to it, and know to expect that a conspicuous gap like that is probably a video.

In Firefox, you can rightclick on the empty space and choose 'view source, or choose to inspect the element, and it will show you the source code, or the source for that area; and you will see the video link if there is one.

But here is the link as a plain URL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4w8bd0JZlY"
And here is an earlier one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUslVGxW_WE"

I've been using Blender since version 2.2 (or near abouts); and trueSpace since version 3. I have the retail trueSpace 4, 6, and 7 CDs.
If the programs work, I like having both options, and a means to use various plugins that don't work or exist for Blender.

Not just Firefox. Same blank space shows in Chrome.
To embed youtube do it like this with the random characters after "v=":

Code: Select all

The original post had the full link.

Using just the video Id seems not to display for me.
(The youtube link exists between the brackets, and looks correct in the code. Select both brackets, right-click on them, and view selection source to show the code for it.)

Use a working embed or click a direct link sure but why would I do all that stuff? There are few videos that I would be so determined to see.

Your character in that vid is really cool. I look forward to seeing more of your work!

A note to Admin or Moderators: You can construct a BBcode thing like the Youtube one for Vimeo. There's how to info. for that all over the web. Then forum members could embed Vimeo videos in posts. You could change the youtube one so full screen works too.

Thank you.
Both of those are original models, but the concepts come from sprites in the RPG title Fallout 2.

Using IE, I can see the Youtube embedded player, but no video; it says there was an error.

In this post: vi ... 166#p46166 I see two youtube players in FF and IE and both will play the video. The "correct" youtube video embed for the forum is

Code: Select all

[youtube]xxxxxx[/youtube]
where xxxxxx is the video id. Typing that can be error prone so I copy/paste the video id into a post, highlight, and click the youtube button next to "font size".

The armor was, The droid was originally for the video shown, but was later planned to be a game [mod] asset; this didn't happen, as I later lost everything on the hard drive, including the scene project.

The armor I moved over to Blender, and wound up rebuilding it from scratch. It just couldn't be made to work well with the game's default skeleton.
