wow i stay with my mouth open...

well, if someone could make plugin to devide polyhedron into pieces, that could be great. Rest of it can handle tS physics engine and particle system.

Year back I found small external app that can load up .cob file and do it. It is called exploder. Its been a while since I used it last time, so I have no idea what it is capable of. But its quite simple app. But I remember it worked. Thats all about tS and exploding object I know.

Look at Carrara for some pretty good breaking effects !
Even the old and free versions !

I do not see the point of spending hours building something if it is to tear it down in a second!
Seriously, it is possible to do this kind of thing with TS, but maybe with much more work!
Do you remember that? It was made with TS. The scene is simple but the principle remains the same than the fragmentation of rayfire:

There is an old plugin that came with all the truespace plugin packs that had an exploder in it.

Wasn't there a plugin called VCtnt that could do that? You had to cut up your model manually first though... it wasn't automated. I think VC had a plug in to do that as well.

Your right i have it i think it came with the Raypack but i couldnt get it to run under the new versions.
But here you go with the exploder in carrara 6 or 7 pro its under Browser and the tab Misc. and its called exploder.
note that you have very many effects (modifiers)like bulging and so on in Carrara too ! Its pretty usefull and most have it so its not a big purchase its on your harddrive already.

Yeah I was going to say Carrara 6+ could do it too, I believe C8 is even better for this kind of effect

When i exploded the building in my movie (not the windows), i changed the position of axis of all the part of the building to the point of impact. then just rotate the part and use keyframe. That don't need a lot of time and i can do exactly what i want. For complex scene, physic simulation is more useful but sometime it do things that you don't want. now it depend of the quality and the possibility of the control of the plugin. I think the best is to use a plugin to do the animation with the possibility to separate a part and with the possibility to change manualy the part selected. A mix of automatic and manual. Just an artistic point of view.

I used the TS physics on the Splododyne stuff. It was ok but very slow with so many parts and as Marcel noted unwanted things would happen. The main bad thing is that it is impossible to stop things from spinning.

My Splododyne method was to make a sphere, hemisphere, cylinder, etc. of tiny cubes. The cubes had physics properties with high mass for their size and initial velocity vectors with high speed and directions radiating from the bomb center or axis. The projectiles simulated a shock wave moving through the scene.

I had a similar issue with exploded robot bits in Aksturmp 2. My solution was to cut to a different shot before the bits rotating around on the floor got noticable.
