Hi guys!

I'm back again, i was quite busy with some php programming that opened my mind and work in some other aspects..

First of all Thanks for you all to keep this site "alive".. and when i say "alive" is really Alive! making comments, sharing work, content etc.. Hat's off!

Few "changes" that i compromise to do.
1) Whole new Site.
* I will build a new front site and of course a new frontpage..

2) Adsense and Paypal for Donations.
* the idea is collect money for the hosting of this site. This is a site to have some fun not money.. so i give you my word that i will use my knowledge to make money for the good of this community.. I compromise myself to do that.. if i have troubles i'll ask for help but i think i have to make it and to make things happening as soon as posible.. At least untill we secure the payment of hosting for the next year.

At this point this is what i will to do, starting today.. Hopefully tomorrow we will have a new site ( I will not touch the forum yet because it's working) someone told me "It works, Don't touch it.."

No questions about this, no help needed (yet).. but we can't wait anymore..
As usual sorry for my english.. don't worry the content will be made by English people

Say, be sure to check out the work that Draise has been putting in to the alternative site. He's been working hard on that, so hopefully some of that work can be implemented as well.

Great idea! Glad you are back and with lots of gusto! You still have the front page I built in Joomla backend if you want to take a look at it, work on it, or do something different. The log-in details are somewhere in Huddle! I did most of the donkey work and made the homepage kinda like a grey/purple look typical of TS. It still needs some modifications on the code to make it a bit more dynamic, and lots of content and setup, but it might be easier to work on instead of starting from zero.

I am running around like a chicken without a head at the moment, but when I can, I would gladly help you out there.

Hi guys, lot of things to do and no free time yet..

The site is up and running but i need to fill with content, That's is what the site needs and is taking "some" extra time.
I can open the site but without much content to see i'm sure that will not make the good impression that i'm searching..

I explain to Steine that i can copy paste content but not write in English, will make this site very unprofessional.. so i'm open to anyone that want to help on that part..

Content, English ... There could be a special thread for things selected for display on the non-forum part of the site. Once an item is chosen the artist would create the needed text and provide images in a post in that thread. Artists could even provide text in each language they speak! Then that could be copied and pasted or some program could harvest it to use on the site. Active members could volunteer to provide that when the artist is no longer, or seldom, active here.

Maybe you should open the site just for a day or so with a little content so we can see what is needed. Then members would better understand what is needed.

Slightly different topic: There should be a backup system to periodically backup the site and forum in case of disaster.

Google Ads

I applied for a Google Adsense account to put advertisements on U3DA and make money to support its hosting etc. They will review the application and authorize it in about a week (they claim). Then the ad code can be added to the site for a second round of reviewing ... then we will have ads. I'll provide the ad code to Prodigy when available.

Notes about the ads:

-- Don't click them just to get money for the site. You would be stealing from the advertisers and Google has ways to detect "click fraud" and it could get the adsense account suspended. Click only if really interested in the product advertised. (I used to have Google ads for a business. Each click would cost me money so I certainly didn't want people clicking them if they were not interested in my product.)

-- Don't write anything encouraging people to click the ads. That is, there must not be any "click 'em to make money for the site" stuff. That encourages "click fraud" and gets the ad account suspended (and steals from advertisers).

-- The money from the ads will be sent to me. I will see that it goes into the Paypal account with the Donate button money and gets spent on site hosting and other U3DA expenses (if any).

Paypal Donate Button

I sent Paypal donate button code to Prodigy to place it on the site. Note that money donated with that button goes to my business account for Alamo Pulse but you can see on the Paypal screen that the donation is for U3DA. I donated $10 (56 cents went to Paypal for fees) and saw that the donations are easy to identify and keep separate from other stuff on the receiving end (also, there isn't any other activity on that account for now anyway).

Prodigy noted (vi ... 627#p40627) that he needs help writing things in English. I think that is for the text to go with the images he is putting on the non-forum, regular web site, part of U3DA he working on. He is in Uruguay and English is not his primary language.

Steinie noted (here) that Prodigy hasn't logged in here in a long time. I hope he is ok.

I can't put the donate button code on the sight because it requires admin power to use HTML.

Google ad code also needs HTML privileges and they won't approve us for ads until there is content on the main site Prodigy is building. PM him if you can help mostly with writing things in English.

So here are some questions:

- Does anyone know what is happening with Prodigy?

- If Prodigy doesn't return (hope he is ok) then who is admin?

- Does anyone have the power to put the donate button code in a post or page? Moderators maybe?

- Good idea or not? If no one can put the donate button on a page here then I could put the button on one of my sites and U3DA members could go there to donate. Remember that the donations will go into my business Paypal account but are easily distinguished from any other activity. That plus having the donate button on another site and not here would seem wrong and could discourage people from donating.

Gord, the site is done and working but i had no time to find content make updates on the code etc.. my uncle died last month of cancer and his father is now dieing too.. the whole family is upside down.. i have no time and i know is my fault, so if someone is interested to make the site and know how to use joomla i'll give him admin powers to make what ever they want

Prodigy, my condolences to you and your family.

I don't know Joomla, PHP, etc. so someone else must get the admin duties.

The main site is visible now (Nov, 6 1:15 mountain time). Good style. I see there is a donate button on the front page. It is not the one I made and I don't know who is handling it ... Prodigy I suppose. It does have a United3DArtists header on the Paypal page and I like that better since mine doesn't.* I think we should find out if that is an official donate button before using it. If it is I'll transfer treasurer duties to the button owner since it seems more efficient for the Paypal account to belong to the treasurer.

I think my suggestion (here) to have artists write the text for their own main site (gallery?) items would help. Then the admin guy just has to put them in but not write them. Prodigy asked for suggestions for things to include (here). We do want the good stuff on the front page slider/gallery so should there be a nomination process or something? Lots of my stuff, for example, is not really slider/gallery worthy.

* Paypal only lets you have two accounts, one private or premier and one business. I can't change either header since I'm using both for businesses.

I would like to point out with the latest unofficial update that United3DArtists Web links have been incorporated inside tS76.1 Menu(s) and the compiled tS6.5 help file. This is how it shows. Perhaps you can add info to the top left corner?

I learned how to customize the Paypal pages and the user experience for donations will be more pleasant with U3DA headers. Still need to know which button to use. Mine or the one currently on the front page (which is associated with Prodigy's archviz business).

Well, admin people have the donate button code but it is still not on the site or forum. The domain name needs to be renewed by May 2014 and the hosting by July 2014.

Hmm, I didn't expect difficulty using HTML on a website but from your PM it seems there is. I'll PM you the details you noted to use the module but if anyone knows or discovers how to put in HTML then let's use the button code I sent. It is a Paypal hosted button which the most secure way.

I have put your code in now (created a new module - no sweat), the Paypal module just had it's conflicts for some reason, but your new details resolved that. All working fine and dandy.
