You can load the luuv.tsx on model side. Click on "obj icon" to load an obj or alt-click to save an obj.

Re: A Cool 3D Freebie For Us All !
By the way folks....
This freebie OBJ Rope maker would be a great tool for making any imaginable kind of Halloween Spiderwebs!
I plan to use it to make Poser Model braided hair for sale at Daz and Renderosity myself, that and some related skimpy clothing, hehehe!

Re: A Cool 3D Freebie For Us All !
OK, lol/...
I just hit "continue" when the various few dialogs came up about unhandled exceptions, and the program goes on and works fine. I suspect it isn't a code issue so much as the fact that the program is coded in a foreign language. Seems to work fine anyhow.
The helpfile, well, needs help, lol.
I am the kind of guy that never reads the manual anyhow, lol, so I plunged in just now for the first time and then after making a masterpiece discovered that I cooouldn't simply export it to OBJ... the export option was greyed out!!!
Panic set in for a sec, then I figured, OK, maybe it just needs a texture assigned so that it can create a proper UV Map.
Sure enough... I applied a texture, rendered it, then the export option was active...
This is the result of my first clumsy knot exported to Vue d'Esprit for rendering... enjoy!!
I think this is one VERY cool little App!

I like this logo with the copper wire. It catches the eyes and you have to look twice for see how the wire is running around the letter. Very good! I think it's something for the front page ideas.

I was playing with the idea of a rope swing here on my second use of this little program, lol.... fun stuff!

Re: A Cool 3D Freebie For Us All !
Actually that was only the first time I ever played with this program, that one you think would look good as a logo, I can do a lot better than that if people want that.
This is now the third time I have dabbled with this program, I've only opened it three times, and the following image is why I really wanted it.... I am creating sets of hair for use in Daz and Poser which I will be selling. They will have braids, dreads, ribbons, all kinds of stuff interwoven.... and the image below flips me out... I can't believe how easy this is to do with this program!
I only just started this thing, what you see is after 10 minutes of work, when I have an hour into this it will really be something worth grabbing (from a Poser/Daz/Renderosity Customer perspective) at Daz or Renderosity!
Sweet find!!

Very cool 3dv.
It's good that we can export as OBJ.
I'll try out the rope maker and see if I can import using the WS OBJ importer.

You're gonna love this tool once you get past the initial strangeness of the toolset.froo wrote:Very cool 3dv.

IMPORTANT: Be SURE to apply a texture to your string model before you try to export it as an OBJ file, or the export option will be greyed out / disabled. Apply a texture using the menu on the lower left of screen, and it is best to use a power of 2 shaped texture or set the texture as NoPowerof2 (see the helpfile on that. Once you apply a texture, hit the "render mode" icon, after that you will see that the Export as OBJ menu option becomes active.
Also, save your work often as the native format before you export, that way you can edit anything you have placed later.
Also, and this is very cool.... you can set a string in the work area, drag the tip of one end with the Alt-Left Mouse Drag (or shift-Left Mouse I forget, lol, and it will generate new segments where you start so you will be adding new control points as you go. At the end, you can "unionize" the two ends of the same string if you want by placing one end precicely over the other until it becomes red, indicating success.
Also... once that is done, you can adjust the diameter of the string, change it's radial contour (make the circle a star if you want) and you can futher drag the control points all over 3d space till you have it the way you like it for texturing and exporting.
the "catmul clark" option on the lower left menu (note that you have to click the menu text entrys to see all the options in dropdowns) makes the whole thing very smooth and cool looking. You can also alter the shape of the ends of each string independently.
Nice little program, and it should work GREAT with your Workspace OBJ Import/Export Plugin! That I gotta try soon too!
Just in time for Halloween Cobwebs all over our scenes huh?

Re: A Cool 3D Freebie For Us All !
hehe sounds very cool.
It sounds like we can create a closed loop rope: connecting the ends.
If so, we can create a rope-link chain from a series of each loop.
Add physics to each loop, with the loop on one end fixated with a fixation point.
Start physics, and record the animation, for a nice effect for OurSpace,
OR:
use scripted physics, and we have a nice interactive effect.
Note: I need to practice more with scripted physics.

Hahahaha!!!
Excellent Ideas Froo!!
...and YES, you can close the string loop! You can also adjust tension, tie actual rope knots, all kinds of cool stuff!
Where is Norm now... it feels like we are charging off wildly into OurSpace with one foot without Norm! fact is... I miss his singing!

Re: A Cool 3D Freebie For Us All !
I agree this string thingy can get addicting. It took me awhile to figure
out but once you get the hang of it some interesting shapes can be made.
The "save as" command does not list *.obj but if you select Export it saves
as an object file.
Froo's Obj Importer brought it into workSpace as easy as a hot knife through butter!
When is the next knitting class in OurSpace?

Re: A Cool 3D Freebie For Us All !
Found another use for Gordian Knot program...
check out the following thread.
The ramp in the first image was created with Gordian Knot using the profile tool, I turned the rounded cylinder into a ramp shape with low walls for this:
vi ... f=47&t=865
