Textures going black on Objects??
Making a windmill scene in registered(when caligari was around) 5.1 sp2. Everything was excellent and going great for a while. Out of the blue on a render and everyone since, textures on the windmill are pitch black no matter how much light and intensity I put in the scene. Same thing happened to a cottage I made in the scene, only one window acted right and could be seen. I unglued the cottage and then it acted right. Later all reverted to this behavior up to this point. Can't seem to correct this at all now. any clues?

Re: Textures going black on Objects??
I've had this happen in some 3D software where I used textures that were baked on and then decided to create my own textures.
The results were either black or transparent.
The fix was to find the original baked on texture (all UV islands were baked with texture) and delete it. Make sure there is a COPY of the original mesh and textures if you want to keep it all in its original state.

If you have moved the associated textures (or the scene file), tS will render objects black but it will always give you an error message, user has chance to locate the dis-associated(?) textures before scene is loaded.
Maybe your textures are on another drive that changes drive letter?

Re: Textures going black on Objects??
I'm not familiar with the "Baked on" term. I'm of course familiar with "UV" but don't understand what "uv island" means. I appreciate the reply but I don't understand what you mean.
"Moving textures." Well I did move some textures (cleaned up textures by putting them in proper directories, such as "wood" "brick" stone" etc where before some were just "loose" in the main texture directory), but ts searches and finds them and they therefore appear on the windmill and such. I suppose I could re-texture the cottage and windmill. It just seems everythings fine and then I add something (like the little cottage building) and "it" screws up the windmill or the cottage is black or parts of it are such as windows or the door.

Re: Textures going black on Objects??
I had an object turn purple when I opened a TS3 scene in TS5. I found no solution and had to rebuild the object in TS5 to get a texture on it.
The render is with Lightworks, the built in renderer, right?
Some ideas:
Try flipping the normals on the black objects or polygons.
Try adding a new texture layer to a black object. Give that a texture and delete the old layer.
Try saving the black objects in a non-TS format like obj or 3ds and then importing them. Maybe then you can texture the black parts.
Are any texture images very large? Try smaller images in both file size and pixel measurements.
