"The Funny Farm" WIP of "The Dwarfen Weinie Roast"
Day 1
Steinie and Pugman1 joined the team "The Funny Farm"
Pugman1 is 6 hours ahead of Steinie so communication between time zones prove challenging.
Pugman1 suggested a funny scene with a Dragon and Dwarves.
I sent Pugman1 a quick sketch with humorous possibilities. (These will not be shown until the finale render)
Sketch is attached to this post waiting for Pugman's approval.
Time for a nap.

Re: "The Funny Farm" WIP
Day2
The modeling has been divided with Pugman1 modeling the Dragon and Steinie the dwarves.
Pugman may model the hair for the dwarves.
While researching "Dwarves" for reference pics I stumbled upon this site:
http://schellstudio.com/gallery/index.php"
Scroll down the page to "Mask" and "Full Sculpture" for amazing sculpting clay skills. If your a 3D character modeler this is a great
reference site.
Since I use Sculptris and Pugman uses ZBrush I asked him to model me wigs, mustaches and beards. My thinking is if he adds hair to my objects I'll loose
the capability to paint my Dwarfs in Sculptris. This will be an experiment since I'm not sure of the results or possibilities at the moment.
I painted some mock hair in Photoshop as an example. I see some examples of braided mustaches on the internet, that would be a big challenge for Pugman!
Sculptris render on left with trueSpace real-time render on right.

Day3
Pugman is working the hair modeling like a champ! I asked him to create Wigs for me.
I applied his "wig" to the model of the "Axe Dwarf".
A High poly count but boy is it worth the finished look!
Finished modeling most of the body, arms and hands. I requested a sword from Pugman and a hoe will
fill in until then...or maybe not! (Pun intentional
)
Onward to model Dwarf #2

The Dragon head is perfect!
The wings have to come up a lot more before you turn this into a mesh. Also wrap the tail around to the left again.(lengthen)
Pugman your a great partner!!!

Day 4
Pugman1 and Steinie worked to finalize the overall shape of the Dragon today.
Pugman utilizing ZBrush to shape and model the Dragon's body.
Steinie realizing that the Dwarf he modeled was actually the "Sword Dwarf" not the "Axe Dwarf". It could have been worse
since there appears to be a "Hoe Dwarf"

Day 4 PM
Pugman sent me the Dragon Head after he modeled in ZBrush. The head wouldn't load into Sculptris "too many triangles connected to an edge"
so I loaded the model into Argile, generated a new mesh, brought the mesh back into Sculptris and used the "reduced brush" to lower the triangle count
down to a manageable level for trueSpace. While in Sculptris I added a few details to the already excellent modeling job by Pugman.

Re: "The Funny Farm" WIP
I have a question for all users.
I deleted the original texture file for a model. I have the model saved in trueSpace with the texture applied. It looks like trueSpace combines the model and texture into one file. If I use the eyedropper (using workSpace side) it shows me the texture. How can I save this texture again if possible?

Re: "The Funny Farm" WIP
Navigate inside the object's Material node and select the node that has the texture, then Insert As into a Library as a PNG. If you do not have the D3DMaterial node look deeper for the InputBitmap node.

trueBlue,
I just can't figure this one out. I think I'm at the right place but I cannot find "insert as" or go deeper.
Any ideas or help?

Day 5
Dragon body modeling was completed today by Pugman with slight modification and painting by me.
After throwing numerous modeling request at Pugman I really need to start modeling the other two Dwarfs myself.

From the Library my freind. Select your Texture node and from the library Insert As/Png Then you can Export it from the same menu if you want.

Great to hear positive comments for our hard work!

Will post detail rendering of Dwarf 1 sword modeled by Pugman 1
Currently visualizing the final pose for Dwarf 2 while he is leaning on his Axe.

Re: "The Funny Farm" WIP
I didn't want to make the object poly heavy so I tried to leave the braided ends alone. Is this one better?
As you might have realized by now:
Dwarf 1 has an attitude problem
Dwarf 2 has ADHD, and
Dwarf 3 was a conscientious objector during the "War of Vengeance"
The cataclysmic war that erupted between the Dwarfs and the High Elves.
That is the problem when you show your work too soon...everyone figures out
the ending

Day 7
Work will now move on to the third Dwarf...phewwww
...any similarities or characteristics in the following render to Steinie or Pugman is coincidental.
A mirror might prove otherwise...

So are you using Workspace to rig and pose? I hope to see lots of props in your final scene, this could be lots of fun. Atleast a few Steins, eh?

Re: "The Funny Farm" WIP of "Bite Me"
trueBlue,
Yes I am using the workSpace side of trueSpace to setup the scene and VRay to render. No plans to animate so I model to pose.
I really should put these guys in a beer hall instead of a musty old cave!
Day 7 PM
Pugman modeled this awesome cave for me while I did the paint job. It has not been tested yet for scene layout but I'm sure we'll get it to work.

Day 8
Dwarf 3 completed.
Now comes the scary part where all the parts are combined into one big massive polypoop.
Will there be enough memory?
Will my CPU stay cool?
Will my graphics card handle the load.
Do I have enough beer?
Stay Tooned.
