Hi together, i have a big problem...

i created a scene with a charcter, rigged in MotionStudio (the scene for my header image "Plugins" on my website). While i'm working on the scene i had no problems. Also the rendering was no problem. Yesterday i saved the scene - also no problems.

Today i try to reload the scene and TS crashes.

Well, TS crahses not immediatly. If i load the scene the following happens:
- First i get the Message "An error occurred in the application".
- I click twice on "continue application"
- The scene loads (on this point i can not save the scene, the TS crashes while saving it)
- Then i choose frame 2 to get my Posed Character (in Motion Studio)
- Again i get the error message
- Now TS is busy and i have to break the task

btw, while the scene is loaded i can choose objects with the MotionStudio Panel, but that's all what i can do, always TS gets busy after i'm doing anything.

Is my scene lost forever or is there any chance to get it back? I'm a bit frustrated about that because i had no problems while i'm working on this scene or while saving it....grrrrrr...

Hm, i don`t see a chance to get it back working when it is this corrupt. Sometimes a reboot can fix things. Or in case it crashes at finding missing textures to simply use a dummy texture instead. Most of the times a broken scene stays broken though. Have you tried to load the scene in 7.61 Modeler? Possible that it loads here.

Anyways. You learned an important lesson for 6.6. Save often. Save very often. And don`t forget to save often. And you better do that always under another filename. So that there is always a step back. I have saved tons of material that way in the good ol days, dozens and dozens of scenes.

I agree with Tiles save often and save a copy of the scn before for you do any major changes, Id try loading the scene in 7.6 and see what happens
the problem with animation is you can end up with some messed up geometry, so maybe thats whats happened?

If its any consalation I rarely take my own advice and have ended up losing entire projects! "I'll save after this next massive edit... CRASH n BURN!!"

Before your start over, have you considered that the problem might not be with your file? It might be a problem with trueSpace, itself. I'd begin by asking the question: "Has anything in trueSpace changed since I last opened the scene successfully?"

If you've installed new or different plugins and scripts since then, then try removing them. In fact, you might try paring trueSpace down to just the essentials. The idea is to trim trueSpace as much as possible so it is as stable as possible. Then try to open your scene again.

You could also post your scene and see if anyone else running trueSpace 6.6 can successfully open it.

On my next scene i had the same problem, but this time i was a bit more clever. Before i closed TS, i reloaded the scene in a new session. Conclusion:

The problem is that i have 2 SDS Layer over my character (which is rigged with Motion Studio). If i switch of SDS and save the scene everything works fine. If i leave the SDS on the scene can not be loaded.

So, keep in mind - never save a MotionStudio rigged character with SDS on !!!

BTW, the plugin scene is damaged all the way It is not possible to deactivate SDS after loading - TS crashes.
