Hi!
Anyone know the maths for correlating trueSpace's motion blur to real-world shutter angle or shutter speed?
The goal here is to simulate a 180 degree (1/48 fps) shutter, so that the rendered elements more closely match the live-action backplate, which is rendered at 24p with a 1/50 shutter.
That said, what are the ideal values for Motion Blur Length and Motion Blur Frames?
I commonly use Motion Blur Length = .5 and Motion Blur Frames = 7... but that is just what I think looks OK, and not necessarily trying to match.
It seems like I remember a topic like this in the old(OLD) forums, so I'm hoping one of you genius fellas will be like "Yeah... it's easy... just divide this and multiply that..."

I have not found the answer to this.
Here's my basic understanding...
The Motion Blur Length is how many frames long the blur itself should be, and Motion Blur Frames would be how many frames are rendered and thus blended to achieve the effect. (Sorta like a "samples" value.)
So the higher the Motion Blur Length value, the longer the blur. (ie. higher value = more blurry)
...and the higher the Motion Blur Frames value is, the better-looking the blur. (ie. a higher value means more sub-frames are rendered, which takes longer, but the blur looks smoother.)
For the purposes of simulating the 180-degree shutter, I think the Motion Blur Length is key. I'm taking a guess that it should be .5. For general motion, I use a Motion Blur Frames value of like 7.
If it's really fast motion, I use a higher Motion Blur Frames value, for a smoother blur.
I was just curious if anyone knew of a direct way to convert tS values to closely match film/video values.
