Thank
@tommy: I use only Truespace for this project and render with lightwork. I add some effects with ParticuleIllusion.
@leon: Part4 will be more difficult to do but i think more spectacular. I would like to finish before the end of this year.

I hope so much that you find the time after finishing this project to explain a few of the tricks you used to create this amazing stuff. Things like the big city, the ton's of rubbish, the animation himself, the special FX (explosions, smoke, fire etc.) - anything ... in other words: i hope that you have enough energy to create a informative and cool "making of" - this would be the flag on the rock.

But for now - excellent work - i love such impressive looking animations also if i don't understand exactly the story behind them ;)
I still use TrueSpace 6.6

Thanks for the comments.
most of the wip are in Caligari forum. I had 37 pages there and other thread for the town. maybe I need to resume the best and put a topic here before caligari close. For the part4 I open soon a new topic to explain more about the making of. I study how to create a storm and i think to find how to do. It will be the first "trick" of this new topic. :)

Stunning work as usual, Marcel. It is just so hard to believe that it is all done in ts. Your mastery of lighting and shaders/textures are a true inspiration and it just shows what can be achieved in our favourite software when you know how. Can't wait to read the next instalment in this fascinating thread. Keep up the great work.

no super computer! i have only a core duo 6600 with 2 mega ram and an old video card. the real problem is i have no time to continue the project since a few month. LightWork is very good for animation compared to Vray (better quality but slow for huge project). i use a lot of tricks to reduce the time to render.

About the story:
There are two important things: conflict between pessimism and optimism. Optimism happen only in Part 5. For example, the bird (part3) has a meaning that will be visible in the final video editing. Simply i would add a scene to understand that the column of energy of the terminal may be beneficial. here's a scoop that I have not yet revealed: A feather (full of energy) falls on the ground and vegetation will be spread on the floating rock. Anything that destroys the technology benefits of nature but centibots must find a balance. In Part 5, the earth will be covered by a second Earth's crust. And all this must remain surreal. Therefore it is difficult to understand history without knowing the whole. and sometime i change the story when i progress... but i know what i want and explain a surreal story with a bad english is not easy.

A few second but it will be a hd movie and you will see more details in the final assembly. It is why i need time to do the movie. Not because the time to render, because a hd movie need a lot of details (modeling, textures). The stuff under the screen is a wink for star war. I like to insert this kind of detail inside the scene. It is not the only one. ;)

Very nice work Marcel. I am no movie maker, and certainly not qualified to crit, but I do like the cuts, it really helps to keep the viewer interest on the story. I am anxious to see this whole story play when it is done. Very interseting, somehow you have figured out how to get pretty good effects from TS, very admirable.

thank you for all the comments. This project is also posted in a French forum, and have plenty of answers that helps me to improve this movie. I forgot to put the part 5 and the improved version of the part 1here:

now i must to do the generic, the epilogue and all scenes between the differents parts. I will not post the new scenes on Youtube. The next movie on Youtube will be the entire movie with sound and music. maybe in 480p or 720p if it is not too big. Meanwhile, I'll post some screen shot to show the progress of the work because this will take time.

Hi Marcel, your animations are looking great, no doubt this is all lots of work for just one man but the end result will be very much satisfying. Can't wait to see the final version.
I tried a animation some years ago, looking out of the window of a helicopter, and tried to apply a shaking handycam effect.
I tried to do this frame by frame but it was hard to get a natural look. I recently found a solution to that as an after effect by using VirtualDub (simple but great free video software) and a plug-in called Deshaker. First you load in a shaky video clip, then run the plug-in to extract the shakiness information from that video clip, then load your other video on which you want to apply the shakiness, and render the video. Voilà, there you have it, a video clip as if it was shot with shaky hands. You could apply this effect to your rock scene to make it more dramatic. VirtualDub is also perfect for changing colour or enhancing your video with tons of plug ins, all available on the web.

I don't know how far you are with creating music and sound-effects for your movie but here are some links to useful sound-effects and great music that could come in quite handy for your project:

http://freeplaymusic.com/search/"
http://www.powerfx.com/soundlibrary/soundeffects"
http://www.soundrangers.com/index.cfm?c ... left_cat=1"

Success.

What i did is to use music like Pinkfloyd, classic and other to see the movie with the music and have a better idea of what i need then search on royalty free sites a music near of what i would like. Thank for yours link. More the choose is big more i can find the better solution. i think to use 2 kind of music: one for the pessimistic atmosphere and one for the optimistic atmosphere at the end. Between both i will keep a classic music to do a transition. now i hnow what i search. just need time to find the good one.
The movie will have about 60% pessimistic then 10% hope then 30% optimistic. this is the right balance, but I have to make the 30% missing. It leaves me a few months to find good music

Looks cool, ok.. it looks amazing :) Did you really make all of your BOT animations in Truespace or did you also use another program?
One more thing :P it said "directed by Marcel Delord" from this I can imagine what the end titles will look like:

Directed by Marcel Delord
Produced by Marcel Delord
Modeled by Marcel Delord
Animated by Marcel Delord
etc...

That would be fun, like a Mel Brooks movie.

Yes! the action of the movie SONDE was a million years ago. This could be the same one that returns today on earth. to really connect all this should make a third film. i don't think to do that. i have another project to do something different next year.

Another part of the movie. :D
A brief preview of the surface of the new world to have a little rest then rapid return to the center (of floating rocks) cold and polluted and a final farewell to the city "slightly" destroyed. There is not much action but the music (in the final hd version) will be more important. The rest will happen in space.

@Tommy: i can do that because my (old) computer work alone all the nights. ;)
Here is a new part about the start of the new world. I'm sure you'll recognize the destination. :)
The quality is not good right now but after a few hours it seem Youtube enhance the quality. I had the same thing for all the post. If the quality is too bad you can see it later. This part have not enought action but i had no time to do what i would like. Now i can start the final cut for the complete hd movie with music (a mix of classical drama and airy), unpublished scenes and special effects. I hope to finish this project next month which will took 2 years of work (and just for fun).

Usually I prefer to show movie like this (largest screen):

But you can see it here.

My computer are so dumb that it cant do anything without me at it, besides doing renderings for countles of time.

I would like to have a computer that i can show my ideas and then the computer render my ideas on her own and I could have a discussion on how to do it in the best way.

For an example: I have an idea how to do a thing. Show the computer my images, drawn by hand, how it would bee and the computer does the work how to visualise them. Then have a discussion about like: I say: I would have it more like this.... and the computer does a new rendering.

Is the computer a he or she?

I hope I have shown that perseverance is necessary to move forward. this is the best tools. Thank you for posting a message on the YouTube page. After two years of effort, I'm glad I succeeded. I do not think I'll go that far without your support.

Dust, clouds, electricity,... most are made with Particle illusion. A software for special effect.
Some clouds are a mix with photo, video (made with my cam) and 3d. I use different layer (plane on trueSpace with alpha mask and animated texture with my video) to create the background and add at the end a new layer of particle illusion over the 3d rendering.

Wow, this is superb work Marcel. Highly impressed. I am pretty sure I saw the first bot a long time ago, but I never saw these other ones and I am blown away. You definitely raise the bar, I am inspired :) I gotta get browsing through these forums more. Congratulations on success on all your hard work.

A truly inspiring piece of work. The quality of the VFX and rendering in general is highly impressive; even more so when you realize the majority of the work was undertaken using tS. As for understanding the subtleties and complexities of the story, I think I will have to watch it a few more times before I grasp them. The trouble is, every time I watch it, I keep getting blown away by the visuals and end up just staring into all the corners of the screen soaking up all the great detail and trying to figure out how most of it was achieved. Guess I'll just have to watch it all over again. :D

Thank Breech! I loved the atmosphere of old games Mist. explore details, go back and look at a landscape. My movie is as a dream with the possibility of interpreting different story. Just for fun.
