Athena

Post by MikomDude »

Doing some spaceship modeling again. This time it's not anything from my SPACE 3102 universe, all my other spaceships I posted (probably) were.

This is just a spaceship from my dreams, the Athena.

Still work in progress but you can see the general idea I'm going for, building the whole ship and not just the outside.

Thanks Prodigy! :)

Small update:

Full View

Added some more detail. I also recycled some of my old low-poly game models as figures to decorate the captains quarters. I've got the carriers USS Enterprise and Shokaku, my Bluebird and the ESAD Sentinel Prime(SPACE 3102), I also have a model of the SR1 Normandy(Mass Effect) that I didn't build myself.

Any suggestions for what else it could use? Apart from guns that is, I'm still wondering if I should add some or not.

I'll try to keep adding more detail as long as trueSpace is willing to render it. It is getting a bit jumpy though (model side).

Passenger seats? I take no passengers, they be thrown in the brig (if I had one). :P Actually it's a one man ship, just for me, selfish I know but that's the way it looked in that dream I had. Besides, any visitors can enjoy the large comfy sofa I built just an hour ago.

As for the cargo area, it is located at the rear of the ship. Right where you can't see it because I had to build some weird looking shell around it. :| Not sure why I did that but it does look better when you look at it from the inside.

Looks good. Yeah, a private yacht. Like that "A" design in its name too. You do good logos and stylish lettering.

Thanks Finis! :) Actually, I was going to redo that A a bit, it needs a bit more curves in my opinion but I'm glad you like it.

Yeah, curves would go better with the curves of the spacecraft.

Athena

...and finally she is finished. I probably could have added even more details and things inside but that's something I can always do later (If I really really feel I need to add more).

Here is the first render:

Full View (1520×900p)

More renders will come later, inside/outside, transparent and some kind of schematic/blueprint.

Athena Final

Post by MikomDude »

Ok, here are the last renders that trueSpace allowed me to make:

Full View (1920×1080p)

Full View (2500×1600p)

I'm quite happy with it (model, not the renders). I could have added countless more details but the ship itself would have stayed the same so I decided to call it finished. :)

Great project!
Maybe you can use it for an animation, so you could show
the inside of it.

Yes, I had planned an animation for this scene but not really for the inside. Though I suppose I could make that as well, shouldn't be hard to just go by everything with a camera.

A animation would be great.

I like the brochure/booklet. I would make the Athena vessel brighter on the booklet though. An advertisement or promotional item would feature the product more than anything else on the cover.

Oh yeah, I was playing around with that a bit and the colors got screwed up so I changed the ship back to the original image. Didn't think it would matter much since it was just supposed to be a small detail lying on the table.

A simple animation is being rendered as we speak, well... ...write :D

I like making wires  But yeah good point, I made it only out of need for some detail, the real Athena would never have any wires lying about.
Oh, and you're going to have to pay a bit more than that, $10.5 billion for the standard ship, $11 billion for the exploration model with the science lab ;)

Here is also my second animation. A simple demonstration of the Athena taking off from the ground.
Due to problems when uploading to YouTube, the video is (for now) only on my ModDB profile. Link to video

Here is a new version of the Athena I'm working on for a project. It's the Athena, only with a little bit more firepower.

There, all done. Now I'll have to make a lowpoly version of her for the project.
