I didn't see a hardware category so I thought I'd post this here.
Do any of you use a specialized mouse such as this one?

If so has it been worth the expense?
At work I use the mouse shown at the link below which has eliminated a lot of shoulder pain. I was thinking of buying one for home as I seem to be spending a lot more time doing 3D (yeah!) and the pain is returning (boo!) but I thought I'd ask you folks about the fancy all singing all dancing one above.

Re: 3D mice/pointing devices.
Hi xtetra,
I'm hooked on wireless RF input devices. For day-to-day operation I'm using a Logitech "wave" keyboard and mouse set. The mouse is ambidextrous and I am, too. I've been interested in the 3DConnexion input devices ever since Caligari listed their SpaceNavigator 3D mouse in the Caligari "Store" webpage (your first link shows their more expensive SpaceExplorer model). But it is a wired USB device and that stops me. 3DConnexion is owned by Logitech so maybe they'll do a wireless version some day. If they do, then I'll have another look.
I also have a Wacom 9x12-inch (23x30-cm) Intuos 2 tablet with both a mouse and pen. But it is too big---I should have purchased a smaller model. The external dimensions of the tablet are 14 x 18 inches (36 x 46 cm) and this is too large to fit on my desktop which is normally covered with papers and notes while I work.
What I'd really like would be something like the new Natal system that Microsoft showed at E3 for the XBox 360. A gesture recognition system that can watch my hands and replace a conventional input device.
Best regards, First Light

Re: 3D mice/pointing devices.
I use the Space Navigator. Nice bit of kit and it works in model and workspace...but not both! Be warned before you try running the old .tsx as well as the 'official' plug in. Really must get a video of it sometime. A few tweaks and it would be invaluable in workspace for walkthroughs etc.
