TS 7.61 B8 redraw issues

Post by neighborlee »

Hi fellow ts modelers ;)

Installed and customizing TS, but atm Im running into a odd problem, which I don't recall ever happening.

I'm having what seems to be redraw issues, and its best explained with a picture, so please see attached file.

All I waS doing in this screenshot, was choosing sphere object, and attempting to create it with LMB.

I don't know if its the fact I'm using Windows 8 or not, but there it is, and hoping someone has seen this before and knows what's up ;L)

I suspect it might be a Win8 driver issue, but I'm not sure. I had to fallback to a slightly older ( just one back) driver, as the current Win8 driver is causing some problems with computer overall, where the GPU is seen as having timed out ( IDLE), and windows crashes with ' your PC has encountered an error', and the resulting TDR error as well. I don't know if this is all related to the driver, but I thought it useful to provide that to you.

I put this in the wrong Forum location,so I will try and remove it now. I would have put this post in "game development" ( I do game dev. so its ON my mind often ), but that area seems to have little activity so I thought placing it here was safer as this issue is important for me to resolve asap.

Thanks

This may or may not work.
(I think it's the Win7/tS7 'fix'. dawdolman.com is out of service at the moment but I think this is the fix I downloaded from there.)

Zipped file here. (5.8 MB)

I've seen this on another modeling software and correcting it involved right clicking the TS shortcut selecting Properties, Compatibility and unchecking Disable desktop composition and hit OK. Try this and see if it solves the issue. Leroy.

I had a similar issue and it was because of OpenGL drivers were out of date, or I had to switch to software renderer because the OpenGL wasn't working. I think the graphics card driver helped out.

I think ? it may have been where I downloaded the TS binary, as was noted by another user here in IRC chat, the webpage was noting possible virus infection, so I decided maybe that
was causing it. NO reason to chance it, so I just redownloaded from moddb .

SO far so good. I looked into TS properties, and it has no desktop composition it seems any longer, though yes it was in win7.

I'll update if any further issues come up,and ty for trying to help everyone.

cheers

Yes, very odd indeed; its not there any longer, it seems they removed that setting for the 'desktop' side of windows 8.

All that is there now, is: run in compat mode ( you choose which), run in 640x480 and disable display scaling on high DPI settings.

I don't seem to be getting the redraw any longer, that Im using the binary from moddb instead of where I got it before, so who knows.

Should I be running in compat mode for windows xp sp 3 I wonder, or any other settings as noted here ?

thanks
