First of all I have to say that I'm in the opinion that all the people on the earth have the same rights and duties. And this post is not a political one even if it seems like it. It is just a suggestion on seeing two, in my opinion, great WW2 movies made by the germans. These movies describes the ordinary people in the war.

I recommend you to see these two

Downfall

It is a very intense movie about the final days of Adolf Hitler (a SUPERB roll played by Bruno Ganz, he should get at least one Oscar for this...) which had me coming back to see the movie a second and even a third time (I saw T3 only twice, he he). And not only Bruno Ganz has done a great performance, the entire cast gives it all their best. Very good film indeed."

Das Boot

This is a german propaganda movie for the Nazist party.

We've seen Downfall and Das Boot. Very excellent high quality films.
We saw the full version of Das Boot in Dallas some years ago, and have it on DVD.
I felt pretty depressed when it was over, that is for sure.

I'll have to see Downfall sometime. Saw part of Das Boot and it was good. I should watch it all some time. Saw pieces of Triumph of the Will. Some movie critic said that the director did a great job on it. Have to watch it with that in mind some time.

I've also been interested in learning about the regular Japanese person's experiences and views from the time before the war with us.
