Noob animation questions concerning aircraft anim.

Post by oldplane3D »

So I'm a beginner to animation in a 3D program and I've looked over a couple of the downloadable .pdf's for tS concerning doing simple non-bones type of animation. The one in particualar is about taking the "trike" 3D file and animating it's wheels and movement, I think it's called "flying trike"?

I have a group of 3D aircraft model files that I want to eventually create animation paths in and be able to export to .dae Collada.

Is there a more "for Dummies" tutorial for doing animation in tS 6.6? One that might cover doing aircraft type of control surface animation for practice?

I'm importing my model as a multi part object which does seem to help with the bounding boxes and getting used to their operation, but I'm not understanding how to place the pivot axes as it seems the animation, by default, seems to place the point of rotation at the geometry center of each sub-part.

Also where is the User Manual download? I searched this forum and the web in general for the manual but only found references to it and sometimes it's use. But no URL to get it from.

Thanks,

Hi oldplane3D. if you purchased your copy of trueSpace 6.6, then the manual should have been in the box. If you have an authentic Caligari disc, then there should be a copy of the manual on the CD. If you downloaded the software from the Caligari store, then the manual should have been part of your download.

If however you have "acquired" a copy of trueSpace 6.6 then I'm afraid your on your own as Microsoft has discontinued support for trueSpace and also removed the official website.

In addition, this forum does not support the illegal exchange of copyright material so no-one here would be able to provide you with a copy either.

For those new to trueSpace and keen to stick to older versions, or indeed 7.6 modelside to a certain degree, Inside Truspace 4 by Frank Rivera is a fantastic 674 page book and can be purchased on the likes of Amazon and e-bay for a couple of pounds these days (original price £41.50). Whilst the book is quite old, about 85% of the info contained would stand you in very good stead with 6.6, especially on the animation side. The book also contains a CD full of great tutorials as well.

HTH.
