We all have one big problem whatever software we use whatever art we make..
Since we work with electronic files the archivation of these files is a pain in the neck..
I lost 2 hardrives in 3 months this year .. and wouldnt I have stored my artwork on multiple external harddrives I would have
lost everything i made before....
Studying a photographic catalog i stumbled over a brand new solution called Sandisk memory vault...
Has anybody tried it out yet ? Its supposed to store for about 100 years with a new very stable method..
Since Sandisc isnt a noname i thought that could be THE solution for keeping image files...
Normal DVDs (CD´s)store for about 10 years some even less ... normal harddrives dont store very long either.......
I just want to ask you if you know about it and give some of you a heads up..
its not cheap but 16 GB for about 80 $ will store quite an amount of finished artwork.. given you store images at 4MB jpeg full quality..
you´d get a lifetime of artwork on one vault or 2....(Or 4 full 1080p films or animations on one vault)
Any ideas ?

Sandisk produces quality products, so if you really want a flash drive it's a good choice. However, the 100 years testing was done in ideal conditions that didn't take into account all the reasons why flash drives fail. You need to be aware of the kind of careful handling they require:

Corsair Flash Survivor is another good solution that is cheaper. You could wait until Memory Vault gets reviews before deciding between the two. Personally, I always try to have a rough idea of the failure rate by checking Newegg and Amazon. Here is what you can see for the Corsair product:

You're already doing the right thing, which is making multiple copies. Maybe you could also try online storage, as this is a good insurance against fire, flood, loss or robbery. There are many free or inexpensive options out there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison ... g_services
