I fixed the old Blender script for importing cob files from trueSpace so it works with the latest version of Blender.
It still needs some setup work in the script, but I thought I'd share it now just in case someone needed it. Besides working with later versions of Blender it also keeps ngons intact instead of triangulating them.
Usage:
open a script view
click text - open text block
select the cob_import.py to load it
click on the Run Script button

Clinton, you are continuously updating TS even after all these years, quite the lifeline of it all! I can't keep up my knowledge with them all!!!
Wonderful.

Re: tS cob to Blender
Thanks Clinton, cool plugin , what version of the script you use ? because the last trueSpace cob import script was available in blender 2.43 after this release no more trueSpace import in blender.
EDIT: i see you use the cob import version 1.09 made by Scorpius, the script in blender 2.43 is version 1.10 maybe some bugs are fixed, this is the last one made by Scorpius: http://download.blender.org/release/Ble ... indows.zip

Now there's software work related to TS I can be enthusiastic about. It helps you migrate away from TS. Not that TS is bad, we all like it, but its future is limited.

Re: tS cob to Blender
Thanks for the heads up. The Blender site said 2.42 was the last version to have cob support.Cellulo wrote:Thanks Clinton, cool plugin , what version of the script you use ? because the last trueSpace cob import script was available in blender 2.43 after this release no more trueSpace import in blender.

Re: tS cob to Blender
It looks like Clinton's script is for use with newer versions of Blender. The layout changed after 2.5 and above. Thanks for porting the old script though. I guess that Blender will eventually become the new standard in free high end modeling software. Cheers to all.

Re: tS cob to Blender
Update:
Nothing new as far as code, but now shows in the addons list when copied to the addons folder and identifies itself as a cob importer instead of generic text importer.
