Thea Render_45% off

Post by nigec »

Thea Render has just released a massive update which includes interactive rendering, here's a few words from the owners:
Dear friends,

Development never ceases for Thea Render and a new version is now out featuring interactive render. Rendering was never such fun before!

For those that haven't heard of it, Thea is a state-of-the-art biased/unbiased renderer with a rich set of innovative features, a powerful material system and its own advanced studio, all-in-one. Plugins are available for 3dsMax, Blender, Cinema4D, Rhino, SketchUp and SoftImage.

You can find more info on our site http://www.thearender.com" where you can also download and evaluate Thea and Plugins. Take advantage of our promotional offer (45% discount) during our beta phase, soon to end.

Your feedback is deeply appreciated and we will be pleased to see you in our forum: http://www.thearender.com/forum"

You also get 2 render nodes licenses (you can use two other pc as clients)
These computers can be using any OS, Win7, Vista, XP, Linux, Mac, I usually network render LInux to 2 x Vista computers.

You don't need to be a Max, Blender etc user, Thea will import 3DS and OBJ, you can also merge scenes, and edit materials inside Thea.
I know I'm a beta tester but its well worth a try, I personally wouldn't use anything else :)

Is the update free to those who have already supported Thea development by purchasing a license when it was first released?

Yes Danx, the license is valid for any updates, the license you got way back when the beta run started is valid for for the offical Version one and any changes after that.. I think when they get the eco system there will be an upgrade charge but that's long way off.
Going by the forum etc, GPU/CPU rendering will be introduced for current license holders.

If you've made changes to the material libary back it up and maybe the license folder then un install Thea and install the new one, I usually just overwrite the old one and never had a problem, I don't think the licensing folder gets un installed, but the materials did on the first few Thea beta's

If you get chance to look on the forum there is some fantastic materials a guy has done:

Well, I know I said I would stay away from beta software,
but I must be a software-buying fool, on a small scale. :)
It's ok, I admit it, onward and forward.

I saw their Road Map, and was impressed that they put it
right out there. They also seem very nice.

This last update I am really impressed with. The interactive render makes it easy to see fast results of the changes you make.

There's some really nice final renders coming from the IR engines, you need to turn the trace depth up abit for glass and use the unbias(mc) setting.
The IR is fantastic for adjusting lighting/shadows.
