Boo's Door

Post by nigec »

I did a WIP about this but it was just before the server switch....
This was inspired by my daughters recent trip to DisneyWorld then watching Monsters Inc twice in one day!

Its totally TS 6.6 and rendered in Lightworks and took about 3 days modeling and not far of 3 hours to render.. I think thats my all time record for a TS render!

Anyway... Boo's Door

Hey this came out great!
I did see your story about why you are doing this scene before
it was vaporized. Sorry about that. You can alway retell it again here if you
want.
Nice job.

Hey nigec...I'm going to critique this one, and I hope you don't take it to heart...because you know I like your art !
I think your illumination (which is why it rendered so long) washed it out. I liked the strong color contrasts in your first image, and I think it would look good with a couple of the Monsters and the bedroom scene....or Sully peeking from around the bedroom door with Mike outside. :)

Thanks guys :D

Ok, in the WIP I mentioned my daughter, for some weird reason took about 20 pictures of the door, most only have Mikey as he's just part of the set, then the evening after she got back my grandson stayed the night and I opened the video cabinet door and MI was at the top of the pile! I got to watch it twice, so figured there must be a sign somewhere lol

In the movie the door clamping device is stained alloy, the WIP started off textured from a image of a pottery version of the door hence why the colour change
The light effect is a cop out  I couldn't get the interia of the door looking right, IF I attempt Sully it would need to be done in Workspace and I can't get 7.61 to work on this pc
I haven't dismissed Mikey though ;)

The geometry messes up in Kerky hence why its rendered in LW, but then again illuminated textures don't work with fog in Kerky anyway lol

Here's the scene without the BS :D It took 2mins to render lol
If anyone wants the door let me know, it would be interesting to see what more clever people can do :)

How about if you take a short cut and capture a picture of the bedroom, post it on a plane behind the door, open the door a little more to see it, and model Mickey on the outside

The big advantage the TS Flash TSX has it will render materials but the file size is massive and Flash hates em lol.
Carrara's does better lines, and there's a lot more control, the downer is no mats so DAZ stuff comes out white unless you pre shade the model

Great work nigec. And seeing all the variations in render technique is quite an eye opener.
