Re: Circular Maze Space
Coool trueBlue!
Lookin forward to downloading this one, adding it to FrooSpace, and gettin lost!
EDIT:
What would be really cool is, have a 'prize' at the end of the puzzle. You step on a trigger, and something
happens.
I think pugman1 did that with is maze scene.
Very nice!

Re: Circular Maze Space
Also Leon, trueBlue reminded me the other day here, we can save our finished scenes in the RsRcd recording format, which can cut the filesize almost in half and it is all still usable in that format, just well compressed!leonregis wrote:![]()
Great trueBlue! You just remembered that I need to create my Minotaur Maze! Just to know... it's better use planes or cubes for the wall? Remember that needs to be less than 5 mega, so if it save 2 megas would be good do it.
Thanks
So if you have a 6 meg scene in RsScn format for OurSpaces, just save the finished scene before uploading into the RsRcd format using the Record method first.

Great news!!!3dvisuals dude wrote: using the Record method first.
Record method? Don't need just to choose RsRcd and save?

Re: Circular Maze Space
yes, the scene must be recorded for a couple of seconds while you are in FPN mode, then stop the recording and you can then save the scene as a recording file in the RsRcd format. Note that you will have to scroll down near the end of the formats in the menu to find and select the RsRcd format, but it is there and works fine!leonregis wrote:Great news!!!3dvisuals dude wrote: using the Record method first.![]()

Always a good idea to save in both formats though so you have an original RsScn file scene backup.

3D Record:
Actually what I have been doing is select the 3D Record's 'Record' button and then the 'Stop' button. No user interaction is needed really other then that. The RsRcd format then becomes available in the libraries. Not sure if Shared Space excepts this format, still need to test that.
Cubes verses Planes:
You can use Planes but you might need to activate it's Object Render Attributes, Enable Object Mode, and Show Backfaces. Other wise the backside will be invisible.

Re: Circular Maze Space
yeah we will have to test that for sure, I used to be able to load an RsScn file into the old Scriptorium on the Cali Server, I remember that, will have to test the 7.61 TrueServe code on that though to be sure. Sure hope so, the filesize decrease is very handy.trueBlue wrote:3D Record:

Re: Circular Maze Space
Yes it is possible.
Just tested.
I wonder if the file is 'decompressed' from RsRcd format to RsScn format though.
Probably ought to make a test:
Create a scene in RsScn format, for port 1114
Create the same scene in RsRcd format, for port 1115
Enter both ports, and compare results.
Just tested.

Re: Circular Maze Space
Back in the day, lol... in 2007, I tested that same theory, and back then with the trueServe7.51 codebase the RsRcd scenes remained compressed on the server just as they were offline.froo wrote:Yes it is possible.

By the way, that sparked another neuron in this old skull...
I recall discussions with Paul A back then about how he had methods of trueServe Scene Compression which varied from portal to portal, he managed that all and could compress as he chose to on the fly.
Wonder if that is still an option?

Re: Circular Maze Space
Yes, that is possible.
Each space has its own Compression setting. By default, it is set to 9 (maximum).
I don't know what value we can achieve by lowering the compression setting though.

Re: Circular Maze Space
I think Paul lowered the compression on some scenes occasionally, don't recall why though, perhaps to ease conflicts between various systems.froo wrote:Yes, that is possible.

Re: Circular Maze Space
heheh poor Steinie; I think he was trying to use the maze last night;
I logged in and there was some text: No entrance to maze!
I looked at it from a top view, after trying myself.
Yep. You can enter the maze, but can't actually walk through the whole thing
because it's blocked off.
That's ok. I'll just Boolean-Bore a hole straight through it.
Problem Solved! LOL

Re: Circular Maze Space
Cheater! No need to boolean any holes as there is a way to successfully complete the Maze and it is NOT blocked off.

Re: Circular Maze Space
hehe ah ok ok ok
I thought that might be the tease you were going to put in trueBlue;
you had mentioned something else, but I thought you changed your mind
to do that instead.
I'll try the maze tonight, with more effort.
