Cylon Centurion Finished
And here it is, the Cylon Centurion from Battlestar Galactica.

Modeled and posed in trueSpace, rendered in Kerkythea.
And yes, I realize I need to work a bit on my rendering skills.

Re: Cylon Centurion WIP
Good model. If you take off the hipbone and the black volume inside, it could be an endoskeleton for a man. For an other model.

Thank you for showing meBuzz wrote:Great model Mikom, but you already pointed out you need to focus on render skills.
Well, with your permission, I brightened your render a bit and out of the dark this great Cylon Centurion model pops up.
Rendering in Kerkythea is a bit different from trueSpace, on my next render, I'll start working more with lights. This one was rendered with the standard lights.
And good one Marcel

Re: Cylon Centurion WIP
HDRI's are your best friend with standalone renderers
a good source is http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html"
in KT open the sun and sky options, click on the "already have sun/sky (may say something slightly different)
select spherical map in the dropdown and click the image to browse for the hdri
hdrilabs split there hdri's use the ref one
fantastic model mate

Thank you Nigec
Just curious, do I need to download that HDRI-plugin for Kerkythea or does it already have HDRI? About the sky-options, yes I think that is pretty much how it looks in Kerkythea as well. I think I saw that a while back when I was testing out some features.

I never used a plugin, unless it allows you to add environment, reflection and backgrounds? I couldn't find the plugin
if you use 3 images you can use a very small hdri for environment, a huge background image and a average sized hdri for reflection/refraction, if you have a huge envo map it increases memory usage.. t kinda balances it all out

BSG Cylon Centurion
Looking back on some old models. One of them being my Cylon. I tried loads of complicated things with Kerkythea which was a terribly confusing program to use. However, I never really made a proper render in trueSpace, so that's what I've done now.
Here is a somewhat improved render of the Battlestar Galactica Cylon Centurion:

that looks awesome... very nice shape, material, everything!
that combination of soft and hard edges came out great.

Re: Cylon Centurion WIP
Thanks guys, I'm glad you like it! I felt kinda embarrassed that I never got Kekythea to work but I guess I'm just not that technical...
