Is there a maximum resolution for D3D?

Post by compPanda »

Hi

A strange question but I have an monitor with the resolution of 2560x1440 and if I make the window for Truespace 6.x to big, it wont work.
Is there some kind of maximum size imposed by TS 6.x?

Yep, I know. It is time to move on but I like the old piece of software.... ;)

I guess this would depend on your videocard, for example.. try running a game at that resolution, it may not run well, or it may crash if the card is not robust enough... there are some good video cards that test your OpenGL abilities of your card that can be used to benchmark your machine.

I am unsure if I have any game that does that resolution.... I usually run games at 1920x1200 or perhaps 1920x1080 since that usually is the highest they go... do you have any suggestions on test programs? And would a OpenGL test really show in problems with the D3D?

Heaven Engine
OCCT

Well.. these two engines are good for testing your GPU. I like the OCCT one a lot.

D3D is directX related, not necesarily OpenGL, you're right.. but if you are having troubles with DirectX, try update it to 10 or 11 (not sure if 11 is available for XP, are you on XP or W7 or W8?). Also run the engines and see how well they run on either directX or OpenGL.

Might give you some clues.
