Are there other Truespace like modeling software?

Post by BNG »

I know there's a ton of 3D modeling software available nowadays, but all of them seem much more complex then Caligari modeling software in general. I've yet to find one as intuitive and simple to use as Caligari. Does anyone know of some alternate software as worthy as what I'm using now? I know about Blender and Studio Max, but both are too complex for my tastes and I was looking for something simple to use and capable of producing high quality 3D models. Thanks, BNG.

Like Pugman said !
Add to that Sketchup for buildings and Moi 3d for technical..
I found Moi3d the nearest to Truespace because thats what truespace always wanted to be.. a poly tool on nurbs like
steroids.... If modeling with booleans like adding and cutting is your thing thats the best way to go...
There is a free version of Sketchup so you dont loose anything and there are 2 types of trials for moi3d.
One is save disabled and goes on for ever and the other one only saves for 30 days....

Sculptris is FREE and fantastic for organic modeling. (A cheap ZBrush)
MOI is great for nurbs.
Silo is great for poly modeling.
Sketchup for architecture.

and what is wrong with trueSpace? It still works and is fantastic for doing
lots of different things.

i think there are topics for that.... its never 100% solved issue. I found the closes are Silo (which is not ready yet, imho), Modo (but still not tS). tS is the only original, there is nothing as good as tS in terms of UI. Find those topics that already exist and read.

One guy named Slaor uses Silo 2 I think. BTW he also made a ton of Battlezone II models with Truespace 4 quite a few years back for the Forgotten Enemies Mod. He helped create 2 new alien races one was called the Hadeans and the other was a race called the Cerberi. I believe someone else textured the models though.

I've yet to find a true Truespace like modeling software over many years of searching the web. Caligari, kind of broke the mold when it faded in to history. Why more software companies don't develop a simple human friendly software like Truespace baffles the very concept of simple logic. I've always said that if you can right click a mouse button you can basically master Caligari modeling software. Thanks for the suggestions folks. BNG.
