Life of Pi, VFX being underpreciated... winning Oscars but bankruptcy and laying off 200 artists without a salary.

It's just a snippet of many an interesting read, and it's all over the internet, and I'm sure you've heard of it, but I thought it would be interesting to bring it up!

What do you think? Is digital art and cinematics being underpreciated? It there a lot of political work going on between producers and the directing staff and the people who do the hard work on the visuals? Is it all something to do with pirating? Not enough money? Corruption? What do you know of the subsidies system?

I thought it interesting.

No just bad politics for 30 years !
Now the Chinese and the people from India get to work....
and the western world and economy has the debts.....

Interesting how the actors get paid a boatload, yet some other artists get short changed.

There is obviously no shortage of talented FX people and a distinct shortage of talented actors.

Working in a studio, voice talent or the voice part can be all done in a couple of weeks.... be it in a few hours, if they are good; meanwhile the graphics I'm working on takes many months to do, hundred to thousands of man hours with large teams of people. Another thought that might irk me..is that I only get a 10 percent of the whole project though I'm putting in the hundreds if not thousands of hours into the product, and our producer gets a good 20-25 percent of the profit for just talking to people and selling our product. Politically, I can understand why this doesn't work out so well for VFX artists..

Oh well, sorry for my rant, but I can get them somewhat..
