Mr3D I think, I think like me with the MMC he's worried no one is going to take part, so maybe he's holding back until a few more new and past members turn up?

maybe, the problem is if we sit back and wait, no one will take part of the challenge.
I suggest start no matter the number of participants. will take some time back to normality..

What did you have in mind ?
As the SMC was originally created in trueSpace and was used as a tool to better yourself and help others with modeling inside of trueSpace, I really do think that all modeling must stay in trueSpace...Texturing and Rendering with other programs is always your option.

United 3d artist could be read 2 ways, some cult-ish club were only TS users worship and bite the heads off funky bananas or move forward and open the doors.
The faithful will stick with TS, the guys that where waiting for stuff to happen will probably move on, but I'm sure they would like a test bed to try their skills and stay with the friends they gained over the years.
I think keeping it totally TS now will fail badly at the present, and this forum needs all the help it can get right now..
I reckon we should run a pole on future contests

just my opinion though

PS I'd be still using TS

From my point of view, it's time to open the spectrum..

Truespace is great and i love it, but also i know that we MUST start to find other possibilities. we can't keep this forum for ts users only since truespace is doomed.. We need to convert our community into 3d Artist community instead a truespace one..

Just my point of view...

I agree.
The contest will allow all modeling software, and not snub trueSpace
work like other sites. I've used Silo, Silo2, Hexagon, 3DMax, Lightwave, MOI, etc
and all have their strengths and weaknesses. I think trueSpace can hold it's own.
The main thing is we don't treat trueSpace users as secondary Artist here.

Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of contests with using other modeling applications. It's just that the SMC is a trueSpace contest, and I don't feel it's fair to enter a Mercedes into a Mustang contest !
I've always said that a different contest could always be born for other applications. However, considering that some others would rather show off what they can do with other Modeler programs, instead of what they are apparently not capable of doing in trueSpace, then maybe it's time to vote !!! :bananamad: :D

I agree that this question should be up for a vote but remember that after September/October
a new 3D user will not be able to enter a trueSpace only contest.
We all want the participation here to grow not shrink.

Since truespace now has no future, it doesn't make sense to me to have a ts-only competition. The smc amd mmc were ways of promoting ts, which seems pointless now.

That said, it might be cool to have a nostalgia comp once in a while, which is mainly truespace (or better yet, truespace only - no other apps at all). :bananathumb:

We all want to find out how other people use any kind of software.Like it would be cool to see some fluid sims
and much more and how the people do it......
There is no need for canceling the use of Ts but it will only make it into the future if the people find a way
to incorporate it into a workflow with other solutions......!
Otherwise we lose all the people from the community sooner or later !
So what is more important.... the people or the software ?

Maybe it´s not really fair to allow other apps that are specialised on modeling, but then, what better advertisement could it be to show off some good alternatives to tS? I guess it would bring a lot more participation, interest and learn-effect to the SMC. It´s a good lesson to widen up the horizon by watching how things are coocked in foreign kitchens
