There used to be a tutorial on the old caligari forums that described how to paint the faces on a mushroom and use some kind of 'select by material' to isolate the faces so you could apply a uv projection to them easily; the faces selected would show up on their own 'page' in the uv editor.
I am working on a complex model, and it would be super helpful to use this feature, but I cant find the tutorial or the 'select by material' feature in ts 7.61.
Any hints?
thanks in advance.

Re: Select by material- solved
Yay! I saved a copy of that tutorial - the answer is to paint the faces you want to group together. Then use the freehand select tool and ctrl-click on the material to select all the faces at once, then apply the uv map.

Hi.. CP...
That is the best job of answering your own question
I have seen yet on this forum....
Well done.....
Seriously though... That is a great tutorial..
It got through to me the basics of UV Mapping
when I had tryed to figure it out on my own for
a long while to no avail...
I'm glad you worked it out..

Nicely Asked/Answered!
I've re-directed the dead link on my tutorial roundup page to a copy of Graysho's original post and also posted copies of the video tutorials on UV mapping.
Grab them here if anyone else needs them.

Re: Select by material
Yep, I cancelled my webspace service (hard financial times) so my tutorials and pics are gone for now. Nice to see someone saved it and to see it is still useful to some people.
