This is a specif post about Augment Reality, marcel's idea... So let's talk!

Questions,

Which is the best soft to make Augmented Reality?
Can I make HD models or just simple ones?
The soft have compatibility with Truespace?
Can I make big things in Augmented Reality or we have a size limit?

Me and my brother already play with some Augmented reality, we have a web cam and print those black things, then see! Fantastic, but I stay wondering if I could use my abilities to create models and see in my table

When I mean play it's not with dorito's nachos....

As you can see, there is no reply. A few month ago i made a similar thread in Caligari forum and had no reply too. It is curious because augmented reality is THE future. More than virtual reality. Maybe most of people don't understand the importance or the difference of this tech.

Yeah marcel, augmented reality it's the way, that's my first thinking when I open the ''Bringing 3D to Reality'' topic, but I see that it needs a solo topic! Augmented reality is very cool and will be one of most used technologies in some years first because it have a lot of uses and second because it is developing fast, anyway marcel I would like to share experiences with you if have no problem

As i said augmented reality is the final product made with virtual reality for reality. It will be improved by other technology as Radio Frequency IDentification for the shop or 3d barcode and GPS for mobil phone. Today we have all these technos. all we need is to merge all to create a new world. Internet will disappear behind these automated applications. I'm not sure if the word "internet" will be known in 20 or 30 years.

Oh marcel I think you need to explain it better, as I understand monumental changes will come and the world will change their 21 century bases (the internet) to other integrated system that in my view looks more Big Brother than today.

Am I right?

Internet saturates. In 2010 the maximum number of addresses allowed by the protocol ipv4 will be exceeded. IPv6 will take over. Apparently, it's just more available addresses (virtually unlimited). is fixed addresses for any moving object. They apply to the global network but may be local. The obligation to be part of the network decreases. Each object has its own information it will release its neighbor. Internet will become a highway that does not need to store information. Is the opposite of cloud computing presented as the future and the fear of large companies who want to control everything (google and others). They do not develop these technologies for the same purpose and it slowed progress. They want to control the storage of knowledge, but they lose the battle (not before 20 years in my opinion, they have time to win money again). This will happen on the day we will no longer need an OS to display information every where. and what can you see today? a battle for new OS!

Tomorrow a rfid will have enought memory to store all you need to know about an object you see in a shop. With your glasses you will see the flashcode of the object then reality augmented help you to try the object. You don't need internet to do that. The shop could use the local adresse of your glasses to recognize you. Today the shop need internet services to do that and it have a cost. Just one example to see how the model of internet can change in the futur. The battle between local and global will be similar than battle between license and open source today.

I already know that internet is going to fall in some years, but don't know how can we wear off it, you show a concept that may can work but is totally oppose to OSs and Information Storage, am I right? So Augmented Reality will be something like information anywhere, anytime about any stuff like this keyboard I'm touching or that juice I'll buy at the cafeteria? I just want to see if I understand well what you are saying, because it is very important, anything about future is important...

Now putting away the technical parameters and causes talk about the practice uses of this daily, I know that we can see floating informations using a glasses but anything else (Not that see floating informations is something useless

) ?

We need surface to print informations even with the most advanced technology as holographic. It is for a long time. Futur technologie uses lasers to project three-dimensional images in mid-air. The laser create plasma emissions from the nitrogen and oxygen in the air at the point of focus. Because plasma emission continues for a short period of time, the device is able to create 3D images by moving the point of focus. the problem: expansion of air create sound because each pixel is a micro explosion in the air! Today japanese can project an image at 3 meters maximum but soon the distance will be better and in colors. Useful for outdoor advertising or new kind of firework (here, sound is not a problem).

That is interesting. From what I read thought it generates the sensation of touch, but I do not think it can recognize it or be manipulated by it.

Now I get it, they us sensors to detect your hand motion for the affect. Reading comprehension is always a good thing.

but, why would they not just have the motion sensor for turning on lights, why do we need to see a switch, or even voice commands?

Seems like a lot of extra work for very little reward, just showing a 3d switch, I would rather walk in the room and the lights come on, or just say Lights on.

The problem of the hologram is the same than all technic to show 3d: they need a plane to create an illusion. The plasma as i said is the only one techno who need only air. you can turn around the object or pass trought because it is a real 3d object as the result of a 3d printer. It is what we can see in star war when they call and people appear in the light! Maybe in 20 years...
hologram is ready for a near futur and i think some work about realtime 3d holographic show a good idea of what it will be possible in several years. hologram in natural environment is augmented reality. Project Natal of microsoft is augmented reality. Most of advanced new techno are augmented reality. People begin to understand how it is important.

Thanks marcel, we always have limitations at that area it's good to know that new tech are push that limits away. I'm glad to know the importantity of augmented reality before a lot of people in the world and a big part of that is because of you, so many many thanks for sharing it

Let's continue to discuss augmented reality here, the future will come why not talk about what we have today, I know that a lot of stuff is right there just need to be merge and implemented!
