Re: Jan 2010 MMC - Untitled Still
Okay, tough week with getting back to work and getting ready to go on travel but here is an updated screenie.
I know I need to clean the ground part up.
next:
- traffic lights
- street sign
- road
- road markings
- maybe some trashed stacked up waiting for the collection
- i think i might make the left facade of the building an old advertisement or something
- texturing
- finalize lighting

This building looks great! Was it based on a real building ?
I hope you implement your ideas because they will make this model
look fantastic.

Peter....thanks. It has been fun trying new things on this.
Steinie...no, this is not based off any real building that I know of. sort of a combination of things from other buildings that I have seen. I am bound and determined to make this a daytime render

It looks really cool, seems to be an building from the early XX century. Looking forward to it.

Good!
I found that the HDRI light (Global Environment Map) is faster than the IBL and produces similar results. It works with regular non-HDR images too. Note that the image selection disappears from the scene when it is loaded into TS. So you'd have to reset the image each time you load the scene.

Hey finis, thanks for the tip. I used HDR in another scene but that was a while ago and had forgotten about that.

Re: Jan 2010 MMC - Untitled Still
Okay, think I am happy with the lighting thus far.
sunlight: 1 infinite light
Skylight: 3 sky lights
Indirect light: Not added yet
As soon as I finish the lighting I will add parameters and any specifics anybody wants to know.
Added a bit more texture to the scene..
Still need to mess up the sidewalks a bit; add a door; texture the heck out of it and then worry about the Penthouse along with the other stuff I said I was going to do. To include add a subway entrance sign and clean that area up.

Tahnoak not sure if you remember this website from the old forum or not, but http://www.cgtextures.com/" has so really nice textures. All you have to do is register. There is some paid content stuff, but I find that the free stuff works great for me.

Re: Jan 2010 MMC - Untitled Still
hey rjeff, yeah that is where I get the majority of my textures. My problem is that I never pay attention to scale until it is too late. My buildings are usually too big to make a nice seamless texture work. One of these days I will actually formulate an approach to a scene instead of just ad-hoc development.

Re: Jan 2010 MMC - Untitled Still
Updated screenie. You will note some differences from the other version. I will come back to that someday but I was running into some issues with the building.
Some things I still need to fix:
1) Dumpster looks a little too big compared to the doorway
2) Need to put some garbage in the dumpster
3) Need a front door on the building
4) Need a couple of signs on the traffic light pole
5) Need a sign for the subway entrance
6) Need a better roadside curb and sidewalk
7) Need to add the lamp posts back in
8) Need to tweak the lighting just a little bit
9) Need to port over to Vue (Not looking forward to this part)
10) Maybe add some graffiti on the subway entrance
11) Newspaper machines look too small
12) Add a road
And whatever else I did not mention..

I think you use 7.61. The image selection don't disappears with 7.6. There is similar problem with other setting when you save a .scn on 7.61. it is why i prefer to use 7.6 for the modelside. there is no update for modelside in 7.61, just many problem that you have not in 7.6. The problem is when you save on 7.61 you have problem to reload the scene on 7.6 if you choose later to use 7.6 to avoid the new problems.Finis wrote:Good!

Re: Jan 2010 MMC - Untitled Still
I am not using 7.61. Everything from the about screen to the splash screen to "trueSpace 7.6" in the upper left of the TS window says it is 7.6.
However, I did install 7.61 then uninstall it when I discovered what you noted about nothing good for model side there. I think my 7.6 installation was damaged by that. I will try uninstalling and reinstalling TS 7.6.
Given your info (Marcel) maybe Tahnoak won't have that problem with TS 7.6.

Awesome work Tahnoak!
Sorry to barge in on your thread.
@ Marcel:
Can you create another thread explaining all these problems that you have noticed in tS761?
With regards to losing the image location for HDRI from a saved SCN. I do not experience this
problem. Perhaps because I am using tS761 on Vista 32? I dunno... Thanks in advance.
