Stage Copy

Post by LeonRegis »

Probably isn't possible to this in a automatic way so I'll need to copy and adapt until the end, and will be really boring.

I want to make an metal tower with this stage and it need to copy and put under the previous stage until it gets in the size I want.

Have you tried the jScript Macro Recorder on your selected object?

Select your Object
Start the jScript Macro Recorder
Select the Copy icon
Move the object
Stop the jScript Macro Recorder

Select the Start button on the created script however many times you need to duplicate it.

Note: You might have to edit the script for the amount of movement you want before running it to be precise:
Widgets.Move(selectedObj_,0.000,0.000,-2.000)

Enabling Snapping might be a better option too.

Edit: Here is a video showing Snapping and jScript Recording.

Oh that's really cool but I did this manually, but I think that it would even not work with this object because you need to progressively scale the object.

Thanks

you can do the entire tower with 3 verticals and parallel cylinders. It is easier to duplicate all the detail (cross). glue all the objects. edit the group. use the rectangle selection to edit the points of one cylinder and all the extremity of the cross and rotate the whole. do the same thing for each cylinder to create a pyramidal tower (if it is what you want). In this way, you don't change the diameter of the cylinders. both extremity are similar. Also you can change the size of the tower without change the diameter of the cylinder and the cross. just move the points selected. use the panel for best precision.
ps : work on a face view and rotate the tower (120 degrees) to edit the next cylinder.
seem complex the first time but easy to do the second time. ;)
