Good enough for me..

Made the hair particles more uniform, i didnt want to do this but i had a lot of trouble controlling the hair on the eyelids.

In order to tidy this issue up, i had to use only "parent" particles for the two short hair types rather than use children to populate the surface. Unfortunately the PC i am using isnt particularly great and decided it couldn't handle the render so i was forced to lower the overall count (its now.. 226300 total hair particles, down from 426300)

Image

And finally added a displacement modifier to the base model, giving it a bit more detail around the eyelids and a bit more overall character:

Ok so its not the most complex model in the world, but then it was only intended as a new avatar for me :D

Used Blender 2.53b for the entire creation (including making the Iris texture!) and also for rendering.

Sorry i should have stated that im using photobucket to host these.. Your network may be blocking you from viewing them..

Here are the direct links in order of appearance:

http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg56 ... all_v2.png
http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg56 ... all_v3.png

I dont't know if this helps - but they ARE there, trust me lol ;)

Speaking of which, can anyone recommend a decent (and preferably free) image hosting service?
It would be great if it was capeable of hosting other files also such as .blend so i could get my models up for closer inspection :)

I'll investigate this myself later..

Nice Avatar!
I like how you did the eyes. The hairs on top of his head
would look better with two tones instead of one color through
out. Maybe a darker base with lighter tips or reversed.
Great to have you submitting some nice stuff.

Theres hundreds of tutorials out there, but a seriously recommend you hop on over to:
http://www.blendercookie.com/

Loads of great video tutorials there (including hair/fur ones) and a lot of them are done using Blender 2.5x so you get to learn your way around the interface as you go ;)

It was entirely created in Blender 2.5b making use of blenders built in particle generators, and rendered using blenders internal rendering engine :)
