One of most beautiful movies I ever seen, enjoy...

Synopsis: The film consists primarily of slow motion and time-lapse photography of cities and many natural landscapes across the United States. The visual tone poem contains neither dialogue nor a vocalized narration: its tone is set by the juxtaposition of images and music. In the Hopi language, the word Koyaanisqatsi means 'crazy life, life in turmoil, life out of balance, life disintegrating, a state of life that calls for another way of living'[6], and the film implies that modern humanity is living in such a way. The film is the first in the Qatsi trilogy of films: it is followed by Powaqqatsi (1988) and Naqoyqatsi (2002). The trilogy depicts different aspects of the relationship between humans, nature, and technology. Koyaanisqatsi is the best known of the trilogy and is considered a cult film. However, because of copyright issues, the film was out of print for most of the 1990s.

Re: Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of balance
Hello.
Another Koyanasqatski-fan (K). I happy that younger people likes these films. My son 17-years old also likes the film and music. The trilogy of these films are on the ten-top of my favorite-films. I have all of them on DVD-s. I saw the K for the first time in cinema in the 80-ies. Beutiful footage and music. And the first film presents our astonish development from old rock paintings to rocketscience, urbanisation and nuclear power. However there is one frightening prediction in the end of the movie.
The movie ends with a rocket exploding and falling down from the sky. Is it metaphor of our cultures rise and fall?
The second movie is in a way a very beutiful movie about the differences among peoples in the world which I am afraid of is disappering. I dont wont to have IKEA, H&M, similar skyskrapers all over the world. We all an our planet has to be proud of our own culture and keep it living. Dont throw the local history away. I would like the people of the world keep there traditions and develope them in their best interest. I think we in the west also have to reduce our livingstandard and rise it in the poorer countries. Its easy to say but very, very difficult to do. I can buy Fairtrade product in the shop so the people in for exampel Brazil gets decent pay and can develope there business and dont live under slave contract. Use recycling energi in my house. Don't travel with ariplanes despite it's the most exciting to do. Travel to other countries and discover their culture.

"Translation of the Hopi Prophesies sung in the film
"If we dig precious things from the land we will invite disaster."
"Near the day of Purification ther will be cobwebs spun back and forth in the sky"
"A container of ashes might one day be thrown from the sky, which could burn the land and boil the oceans""
We are digging oil, coal and other materials from the land. When I go out a clear day I se the skye striped with condensed clouds from the airtraffic in the sky like a cob web. More and more countries are building nuclear plants and weapons. If we don't stop the CO2 emissions I think we will create a disaster in our world with global warming or nuclear asches from the sky.The movie ends with a rocket exploding and falling down from the sky. Re: Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of balance
Howdy Tommy,
Cool, I just saw the first of trilogy, I feel unhappy because I know that all three are really good. I need to buy the trilogy when I got money and time, the 3º of the trilogy you can see in youtube but the second not, and I want to see all three in sequence...
I agree completely with you, we are destroying ourselves, and the worst, most of us know that and do nothing. I could say to you, change your lamp, recycle your garbage and use bikes, but sadly it can't solve the problem at all! We need leaders that understand the need of the planet and attend it, I hope that it become to change with Obama's administration, but sometimes to do right, we need to it by ourselves, because of that I thought many times in follow Political Career, but always know that I'll in the max be a senator for 4 years and then I just threw my life away and didn't reach my principal objectives (change the world, to better), at least some time ago I created a site, called Save Our Planet (in portuguese is Salve Nosso Planeta) and I set up it by myself using Front Page 1998 or something like that. I gave up because the technology at the site make it bad, then I tried to learn some of PHP, but was too hard (I was 11 years) and I also gave up of that, anyway I liked the experience to help a little and hope set up it when I start learning PHP again, and make a Super-Big-Multinational-Cool site for the Save Our Planet Purpose.
Thank you Tommy
PS: I love K

Re: Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of balance
Hello Leonregis.
I have 2 copies of Powaqqatsi. The 2 first movies in the series are sold in a box. In the first box I bought the Koyanqatski disc got broke (this happens if the disc is laying in the sofa) so I had to buy a new box to get the first part. Now I have two Powaqqatsi. I can't see which region it's for but you may have a DVD-player for all regions.I have no use of two discs and I can send it for free of charge to you if you want.

Thanks for the offer Tommy, but I think that the shipping cust more than the DVD itself and I couldn't explain to my father why a Powaqqatsi copy arrived here, because he teach me to don't give my exactly address to someone by internet, but I appreciate the offer, many thanks.Tommy wrote:Hello Leonregis.

Re: Koyaanisqatsi: Life out of balance
It's OK I understand.
It's a good advice from your father to not put too much of yourself into internet. The things that you put there stays forever so be carefull. It's seems that you are a very open minded young person and that's good for your future. You seems so grown up in your thoughts. With no story only pictures and music you have to analyse the movie yourself. Few of my pupils who are in the same age as you should not like the movies.
Try to see the movie in some way anyhow.
