Tips or pointers?
since i started I have been having a lot of fun with just creating anything and everyhing. Seems I learn more from just doing in most cases then looking for the answers when I am stuck. Turns out I needed a jack hammer, Don't ask me. But it happened. are there any tips or pointers out there to bring this to life?

Re: Tips or pointers?
Everyone is different of course but this is how I taught myself 3D and trueSpace. I pick one feature or function and just play with it. Right mouse click, left mouse click, pull, push and twist until I feel comfortable with the behavior THEN I read the manual about it. Now when the manual describes methods and features it all clicks because I've seen it happen but didn't know why.
No one said we can't have FUN learning 3D.
Also learning trueSpace carries over to all the other 3D packages when or if the time comes.

Hmm... That is where I am at now. I just pick something and use teh tools I have to create it. Some of the features I am still questionable about what they actually do, so maybe I will try and go through it button by button. There is only 400 and something right?

Re: Tips or pointers?
Well we do have lots of tutorials too! Grab them while you can, they'll be unavailable in a couple months. (as well as trueSpace)
I've been using trueSpace since around 1988 so I've had plenty of time to look at 400 buttons. (Some of them I still haven't used...)
Also remember you have lots of users here who love to help new users like yourself. So ask away!

Is it worth learnign to use Model side?
There are a few features I can not locate in the workspace side that would be beneficial like the magentic tool. But, I read somewhere MS will be phasing out the model side by version 8.0. Hopefully by then all the useful tools and buttons will be converted.

Re: Tips or pointers?
Hi Karthogen. I would say, yes, the Model side is worth learning.
There are a lot of tools on the Model side which do not exist on the
Workspace side. By the same token of course, there are tools on the
Workspace side not present on the Model side.
Truespace 8.0 is not going to happen. 7.61 is the last version of trueSpace from Caligari.
So, if we want tools for Workspace side, we need to make them ourselves
in the form of scripts and plugins.

Re: Tips or pointers?
What? You didn't hear the news? Microsoft just announced that it is commited to the long-term viability of trueSpace just as soon as the recession ends. They are promising that trueSpace 8 will incorporate their innovative "Bob" interface and the top secret "real-time V-Ray 2.0".froo wrote:...Truespace 8.0 is not going to happen. ...
None of the above is true. No Microsoft employees were harmed in the creation and dissemination of this post.

Re: Tips or pointers?
I was a little confused by that one, From what I was reading it sounded more like Calagari the division for truespace had the unfortunate news, but the product itself was going to be merged into the Virtual Earth dept.
So I guess Microsoft is either giving up with competing with Google earth, or feels the tool is good enough now to do what it needs, to populate Virtual Earth. as is.
Originally they were intending to compete with Sketch-up Pro by making this Free, and they are years ahead of them on development. So they could shelve TS For a few years and then bring it back. But, it will definately not be something designed to compete with the high end modelers, just somethign to stay one step ahead of Google.
