I need to create a rope like this:
I just don't know how... I tried the lathe tool, but the way I did, it not worked. So if possible someone post a tutorial or explain how to do it, I'll be very grateful.
Thanks in Advance

If you need low poly, use a cylinder and a bump map.
If you want a real 3d model, you can use lathe tool and use helix to create a 360 degrees base object. Duplicate it 2 time and rotate by 120 degrees. Erase the faces at the extremity (if you want to use sds for a near view). Duplicate the result and glue to create a segment of rope. You can use the bend tool to curve the segment then attach all the segments to create the rope. With a different length of segment you can create different look of rope. Then do the texture with a part of your photo.
I'm creating by DD's method... but marcel, here did you get this texture? Can you send it to me?
Thanks again

Here is two segment of rope. One vertical and the other is a copy deformed with the blend tool. To deform you need before to change the position of the segment (need to be horizontal). The texture is very basic but the interest is the uvmap automatically created with the lathe tool. Then the uvmap follow the form with the blend tool. It is the most simple to create a rope without plugins. When you know the technic, you can do that in 2 minutes.

"but marcel, here did you get this texture?" : no get i do the texture
use this object when the cam is near. For an entire scene with a lot of rope, it is better to use a more simple object (cylinder) and simulate the rope with only the bump map to reduce the number of polygons.
