xp 64/TS

Post by rjeff »

Ok this may have been covered, but I am not gonig looking for it. Does TS work well with XP64? I know it has issues with Win 7, and I though that since I was going to reformat my system I would do a dual boot system with XP and Win 7. Just need your guys opinion.

I tried TS in XP 64bit, and had no problems. But I quickly changed systems as XP 64bit didn't have much supports and was a little buggy for me.

TS runs fine on W7 64 bit, but don't know about 64 bit XP.

XP 64 is probably the more robust OS ever made by Microsoft so it is a good reason for keeping using it.
Regarding support, although there is no new updates from Microsoft, you still can find XP64 drivers for new hardware.

Some editors don't support XP64 anymore though : the new versions of Sony Vegas, the video editor, does not install on XP64. It works perfectly on XP64 once installed though :) The workaround is to have a dual boot XP64/Win7, install during a Win7 session, then reboot and use from XP64 !

Now regarding trueSpace, I am using XP64 with tS7.6 with no problem.
Be aware that tS7.6 is a 32 bits app, so it won't make use of your extra ram.

Thanks guys and Emmanuel. I did not think that TS would not take advantage of the RAM. I did use TS on WIN 7, and yes it did run fine, just the real time side did not, but then again I did not use that side anyway.
