Modeling with Spacedraw on tablets and smartphones
This thread is dedicated to WIP using Spacedraw for Android
(see www.scalisoft.com)
You are welcome to post your work here if a substantial part of it is done with Spacedraw.
Also, you are encouraged to indicate
- which of Spacedraw's tools you use,
- what other software you employ (if so),
- what device(s) you use,
and to attach a zip containing a .spa or .spah file of your scene.
Don't fear your work not to be sufficiently professional - discussing it will help you and other Spacedraw users!

Re: Modeling with Spacedraw on tablets and smartphones
Hi Scalisoft,
I hope you'll read this post.
I made some tests with my new tablet (Android KitKat 4.4.2)
Several times mesh disappeared while modeling.
But I don't get this kind of issue with (Android GingerBread 2.3)
I hope you'll fix this.
Thanks again.
Take care Mate.

Re: Modeling with Spacedraw on tablets and smartphones
please describe exactly when this happens - Spacedraw was tested with 4.4.2 and I didn't notice such an issue yet.Sculptor1234D wrote: I made some tests with my new tablet (Android KitKat 4.4.2)

Re: Modeling with Spacedraw on tablets and smartphones
1st Test
Created a little bot using box modeling
Deleted half faces and made an instance mirror (history step 219)
Then mesh disappeared and history is available.
But can't restore mesh and had to create a new scene.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
2nd Test
I recall, another time, mesh disappeared after using edge-loop several
times in a row.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't know, perhaps this comes from Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 ?
But I'll report here each time when mesh dissappears.

3rd Test
Created a cube, some edge-loops to have more geometry to work with.
After rotating view, mesh disappeared ... (step 47 in history)
History is available but can't restore mesh.

First CGhub ...
Now CGarena.
I think SpaceDraw should have its own forum.

Re: Modeling with Spacedraw on tablets and smartphones
I had things dissappear from the view, mainly cause zoomed past the mesh, which inverts the normals and then you can't see anything. Then trying to navigate to it was really hard, eventually I just started over. This was with a Sony Xperia tablet.

@Sculptor1234D:
sorry, I can't reproduce the disappearing mesh from your reports - I have no Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, but tested on a range of similar devices with android 4.4.2.
- what happens if you undo view, reset view ("default view")?
- is tripod and home grid gone also?
- zooming in/out: does it happen when using 1 or 2 fingers or in both cases?
when working on normal-sized item, always keep the zoom at about 1 (use dolly instead of zoom to navigate)

what do you mean by "zoomed past the mesh"? - when you zoom in, of course the mesh will get behind the camera somewhen so you don't see it anymore, has nothing to do with normals (the far clipping plane gets nearer to the camera also, that is, objects far away will disappear also when you zoom much)Draise wrote:I had things dissappear from the view, mainly cause zoomed past the mesh, which inverts the normals and then you can't see anything. Re: Modeling with Spacedraw on tablets and smartphones
in Version 1.2.2 (live now), the tripod position (i.e. the view-rotation center when "orbit:tripod" is active, as is by default) is now retained when clearing the selection. this should now often avoid rotating the mesh out of view by accident.

Re: Modeling with Spacedraw on tablets and smartphones
Hi Draise,
Problem of "disappearing" mesh was that the axis was always reseted in the default grid's center. As Scalisoft wrote, this have now been changed. Before the only way was to always select something before rotating the view. Now view rotates on the Ref.CS of the current selection or last selection made.
Something you might not know : if you tap with two fingers in the navigation areas (like one tap on pan and on on rotate), this will center the view on your selection (or on the whole scene if nothing is selected).

That dinosaur is the bomb!
I need a bigger screen and faster phone. My phone is struggling to operate things like simple facebook and chrome.
