Question about Shadowcatcher in TrueSpace

Post by Hicks »

Hi,

In TrueSpace 7.51 and 7.6, there is a function called 'Shadowcatcher' (
http://cdn.caligari.com/proteam/proTeam ... atcher.wmv" ). When I test the function, I use shadow catcher shader for the plane and a photo for the background, but the plane can not be hided in rendering (see the picture below), how can I hide the plane as the effect in the course video?

The plane need to have a white color to be invisible. With shadowcatcher the color of the plane is like an alpha map. Also use the color of the shadow to change the intensity of the shadow on the ground.

Thank you!
In TS7.6, how can I let the background photo appear in the workspace window before rendering?

Thanks. I didn't know how to use the shadow catcher either.

Do not hesitate to combine the functions of Lightwork to create interesting shader.
Here is an example for transparent object: i do a copy of an object inside this object and combine shadow catcher, alpha glow and transparent shadow. The object outside don't cast shadow, then the object inside don't appear (it is a shadow catcher object) but it simulate the shadow of the object outside.

Where and how to set the alpha to make the sphere looks like a transparent crystal ball? (I mean that the background must can be seen vaguely in front of the ball.) Can you also post a photo to point out where the alpha control button is?
