Anamation over the Bridge?

Post by Karthogen »

HElp..

So I setup a character with a skeloton on the Workspace side.

I can carry him over the bride to the model side and render fine.

But if I pose him, and then carry him over, he losses all his modelside tesxtures and shows Grey.
IF I pose him save him go to model side and load he is posed and has his texture.
If I keyframe motion with the skeloton and carry it to modelside, I can not get his model side texture back at all.
If I manually fix the model side texture I loss his key framed poses.

Is there a fix for this?

You carried a skeleton to the bride?!! Heyyyyy, are you making a monster movie.....?

Maybe he goes all gray 'cause he doesn't like the look of his bride...

Sorry, Karthogen, I tried but I couldn't resist. I can't offer any constructive help so I thought the next best thing was to make flippant, dumb jokes... :P

Least I got a laugh out of it.

Better than the headache trying to get this to work gets me.
for some reason it looks like it is loading the bone material on modelside across the whole model.

MAybe if I delete the bones material.

When you cross from workspace to modelside you have to understand that the shaders and materials on either side are different. Model side shaders are built to use Lightworks for rendering. Workspace shaders are built to render in DirectX.

Therefore, when you construct a model on the model side and you want to move to the workspace side to render it in an image remember that materials should remain but shaders will not.

Another point to mention is that the skeleton system on the model side does not work in workspace and vice versa.

Yeah.

The materials have always given me trouble, But I would model in workspace, take it to model side to add teh material/texture. then I went back to work space, add the bones and keyframed a few steps and a hand move. Now when I carry it back to modelside, it textures the whole model with the bone shader instead of the LW material I had on it. It will keep the anamation and play it but I loss the texture, If I fix the texture I lose the anamation. Makes no sense.

I'm sure you'll get it. Brains work best when we're laughing. :bananahi:

Two things you should watch out for. Textures across the bridge are unreliable.
Bones across the Bridge are impossible. The Modeler Side Bone (old) system does not work on the
workSpace side and visa versa. TrueSpace has two bone systems and they do not work together. The workSpace
Bone system is the newest so if you use it you MUST animate on the workSpace side.
Rules to live by, do your texturing and bones last on the side of trueSpace you want to animate with.
Crossing the Bridge should only be done if you want to use a specific tool, like lathe, extrude, path tools etc.
The Bridge was a necessary evil and I try to avoid it when possible.

Its is not as bad as most people think, I can create and entire scene, model it in workspace, texture it on model, add bones and pose it on workspace side and render it on the model side. I can also create animations on the workspace side and render them in lightworks. All of this works with no real issues, but a few glitches.
This one has me stumped, I have never had it change the actual LW material on me. My oblject has four materials, and when I carry over the anamation or the pose it will change the color on the last listed material to a grey. I have fixed that material but when I play the animation, it changes it back to grey.

MAkes no sense.
