Notes Regarding This Website

Post by froo »

Ok; looks like we need to do the following:

Link to Main Page - Need a link to main page, from these forums. Where to put it? Do we need a special forum for it, so it does not get buried in threads? May be better to add it, to the banner section of the forum page, like where the "*** United3dArtists ***" link is. Hm would it be a good idea to change that link, to point to the main page, instead of going to the same page (the forum)? When I click the 'United3dArtists' link, which is on the forum page, I go to, the forum. :roll:

Request Joomla access to site, from Prodigy (Augusto), to update site

Articles - do we put links on main page? Best place I'd say. I did not know we could do that.

News, Updates - put on main page. Need access to Joomla for this as well, probably.

EDIT: Just noticed there is a News link on the main page; though I did not see it. There are no news articles. Need to add some!

Link to U3DA - need to find sites where we can add our site link. Best to make this, automated if possible, so we don't spend an eternity doing this.

You can bridge Joomla and phpBB boards but it would end up intergrated and not very wide, it might be worth checking the phpBB support forum about creating a "home" button.. shouldn't be that hard.
IF someone could bridge Joomla and the forum you could create a group for content editors

It tells you how to add a link next to the FAQ but here:
http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopi ... #p10926545"
please note this was for the subsilver template so might need tweaking

I´ve solved it with simply including a little menu in the overall_header.tpl

Create a little webpage with just a few buttons or links, then call it for example mymenu.html. Then open up the overall_header.tpl (located somewhere in the templates), and insert <!-- INCLUDE mymenu.html --> in front of the line 122. Should look like this then:

Code: Select all

                <!-- INCLUDE mymenu.html -->

                <!-- IF S_DISPLAY_SEARCH and not S_IN_SEARCH -->
                        <div id="search-box">
Then upload the mymenu.html besides the overall_header.tpl. And when everything works well, the little menu will be displayed on top of the searchbox then, like in my forum at my page. There may be more elegant solutions, but this one is a quick one. And you don`t need to edit the whole template code afterwards to edit this little menu :)

Don`t forget to do the modifications for all your available templates. And don`t forget to go into the admin panel and update the templates in the styles tab after uploading. Maybe you even need to empty the cache for that. It`s been a while since i did it.
