Thea render engine public beta and prices.....

Post by RAYMAN »

Just a heads up from the Thea site today... ;)
Quote : Regarding release dates, our open beta phase is programmed to start on 15th of December. Everyone will be able to evaluate the software. Our goal is to move as fast as possible towards release v1.0 and build up extensions and more features in next releases.

Regarding prices, the price list of the application and plugin licenses is given below. We are also working out an academic license (with the goal to be impossible to resist) and discuss a potential discounted bundle of the application and all exporter plugins (more details to be available later).

Thea Render Application

•Standard License - Price 195 € (introductory price 50% discount)
Contains: Studio, Biased Engine(s), Unbiased Engine(s), 2 Slave Licenses.
Remarks: Available only during pre-release phase.

•Single License - Price 295 €
Contains: Studio, Biased Engine(s), Unbiased Engine(s).

•Standard License - Price 390 €
Contains: Studio, Biased Engine(s), Unbiased Engine(s), 2 Slave Licenses.

•Slave License - Price 95 € (first 3 licenses then 95 € every 2 slave licenses)
Operational only as a network client in conjuction with a Single/Standard license as server.

Exporter Plugins

•3dsMax Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

•Blender Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

•Cinema4D Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

•Maya Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

•Modo Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

•Rhino Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

•SketchUp Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

•SoftImage Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

•SolidWorks Exporter Plugin - Price 20 €

General Remark: All customers of release v1.0 are entitled to free upgrade to all releases v1.xx of the same software license.

Thea render is like kerkythea a standalone application so it will be easy to use with Truespace....
Public beta will enable it for you to try it out.
It also supports animations!!
Heres some pics from alpha..

Couple more questions, if you do not mind.

DO you have the link to the website, so I can read up on it?

Does the exporters have animation support from all those programs?

How much tweaking on the materials are required to get those results?

Well lets start with the easiest to answer
Here´s the site http://www.thearender.com/cms/"
You have to go to forums and I think you have to sign up but cant remember been some months that i did that.
Giannis the man in charge and founder answers every question you have pretty fast...
Animation support is intended for both use with exporters as well as for the standalone.
So its a question of the host application what animation it supports.
For the questions about working with the application I must tell you that for the moment i have no idea.
All i know about it is from reading the forums there and they just introduced us to the pricing and licensing sheme so I
thought I´d pass that on to you guys.
But from my work with Kerkythea from the same guy i had good results.... pretty easily... so if Thea is a better solution
and thats what they say ... well shouldnt be that hard.
One thing to say is that Jack is the one to ask about the exporter thing with Truespace.
he has and had contact directly with the people.
