My TS interface

Post by Draise »

Welcome to my world in trueSpace! I use two monitors, so I work with them both maximizing my information and ability to work.

I have libraries and the stack in the center for easy access, the animation panel below the 3D viewport, and the link editor surrounded by libraries and other code based information that can be easily hid.

Due to having two monitor sizes, I have a white space at the top on the right for the second monitor. I can change that accordingly.

Included in the layout is most of my plugins that I like to use, complements to my tS hero's Clinton and trueBlue. I also have a modified lights library and other scripts, including one I made to turn the bridge on or off with a button.

I have also updated the context to include the latest community unofficial update 1, 2 and 3.

I also run a series of shortcuts optimized for complete keyboard control, based on shortcuts similar to Softimage XSI.

If you'd like a link to the context to try it yourself, you can visit my blog which will contain a link to the file (94MB)

!
It's not complete, but I have tested it quite a bit and this layout was built over the latest Unofficial Update 3, so there shouldn't be too many problems. If you find any, let me know!

Hi Draise , interesting layout, the ctx seems to be quite large for a layout , does your ctx contain some scene objects , or objects that have been placed in other areas , for example in the project node or network node?

thanks
regards

Ill have to double check that, as I didnt think the CTX saved that information. It does have other scripts in it though. I'll keep you posted.

2 monitors are the best way to work in 3D

Now i use a 23" monitor but i should prefer 2 square 17" monitors... but is hard to find 4:3 monitors nowadays :(

Yes, two monitors certainly is the way to go! Tho a 23 inch screen would be awesome! Maybe even those two together!!

I wouldn't mind two widescreens though, height is nice, but whatever is cheaper works I s'pose.

I had a look at the CTX on another computer, indeed it is full of a lot of... 8-) .... crap.

I'll clean that up and work on it later. This weekend should be quieter than the last (it wasn't quiet) and I should be able to work on things..

think of the ctx , as the entire scene graph and all its sub levels and containers , toolbar layouts etc.

there are some libraries that allow for saving of layouts which will save just a layout and it will add it to the tab along the top of the window(it will show after an exit and restart of ts), but it wont save any objects added into the scene such as scripts or meshes etc added into the scene ( it may save some objects that exist outside the scene graph you'd have to check ) .

theres also a library that allows inserting a project , this should in theory save all objects and layout and toolbars etc, as far as I remember.
Its very similar to saving a ctx.

Sweet, Draise! I've thought about doing something similar as two monitors can really help spread things out quite a bit. I love the new HD wide screen monitors for the same thing less clutter in the center area.

Updated the CTX to be lighter. Now it's only 30 megs! No rubbish scene.

There are some library dependant menu's and plugins I made-ish that may require my libraries, but they will be online with time.

Download HERE.

I have finally updated tS to the Unofficial Update 3!!!!

I'm stoked. I have uploaded the CTX with the scripts that I like, but some elements and libraries are not included with the setup.

Most scripts are kindly provided by Clinton and trueBlue! Nice one guys, thanks there, again.

I think it is important to have a lot of mines. Instead two monitors you can use a 30 inch with 2560x1440 for the price of two good standard monitor today. Or a 16/10 with 2560x 1600. But this format use an old technology and the price is hot. 1440 or 1600 lines are useful for a complex interface. The 1080 lines of a Full HD are not enought for me.
Example : to create a realtime video Full hd with the gpu (particleillusion and opengl) i need 1080 lines of space + the lines of the interface. Because the soft Save what is on the screen.
