I took a look at the front page and made a couple of changes.

The top menu is fixed.



Added Draises old article, "Forum Online" but had to remove the monkey image because it caused warning messages.
original link text looks ok to me, maybe it's a new security feature. Edit: Nope, not security since I was able to use the image in my local install of Joomla

The gallery is empty and the software for it looks out of date (April 2013), the latest is July 2016

I'm starting to get the hang of Joomla, the front page software, so any feedback would be welcome.

I get warnings in my eyeballs when I see the picture!
Probably because it looks like a mirror !

What warnings did the image cause? Where did they come from? (Joomla, your firewall, ... ?)

I think the forum members should decide what to do with the front page/website. It is just a portal to reach the forum? Otherwise what features should be there?

My two cents: I think the login form on the front page should be hidden unless there is a need for "front end" users like people writing articles. The donation drive to fund the hosting will start soon so the donate button is good. Since the gallery software is out of date I'd remove it. Replace with modern gallery stuff if there is to be a new one.

The error was from a Joomla plugin called BK-Multithumb. I see no obvious use for it so I removed it.
I also removed the Event Gallery and the login from the front page.

The only thing I have on my "to do" list is to add articles for the monthly challenge, maybe something like this from the wayback machine:

The question that comes to mind is whether we have material for the cg professionals section.

I try to stay on top of the forum activity but at this point I am not doing much else to be honest.

I am glad we have the forum and I will contribute money when I can to keep it going but my time is otherwise occupied for the near term.

A gallery, link to a page for specific and important forum posts.
Competition Post on the front page
Link to a page for specific and important downloads
Links to important other trueSpace material?
Celulo's links to free software and a quick review of each software?
Link to the trueSpace site that got resurrected?
Artist of the month? (which would rotate with the regulars? hahaha)

Generally I think it should be a shorthand link and forum summery to most important must know content in the forums and some member showcases or competitions.

Thanks, that's just what I needed. The next thing will be links, after that then some system of dealing with the competitions, the winners and the past winners.

since this site is for all 3d programs perhaps the logos for blender, TS, Fragmotion...ect... on the welcome page so people know it's for everyone not just TS users

That's a pretty good idea.

Agree about showing it is not just TS. Maybe a post/article or something in the side bar, always at the top or prominent, to tell what u3da is. So what is it? To me it is a friendly forum for CG, mostly of amateurs with pros too, users of any CG software welcome, much TS info. available due to its beginning.

I would remove the CG professionals part since there are few here. Or use the page/section it reaches to feature work by Marcel, Draise, Prodigy if he still does that, ... Be sure to get permission from Pros first.

I would use the Youtube thing to showcase a good CG related video by a member. There could be a gallery with more member videos. Vimeo too if someone has videos there.

Fix the search box so it doesn't say "search" twice.
