I might not be here or anywhere online as much because...

Post by tamtam »

I am now going to soon go off to a small trade school (college level though) that actually is offing a 3d modelling and animation course at level one and level two, and it's for game art and design. I know i'm going to love this school, because they use Maya for 3d models and 3d animation. I was so stressed when I heard for the first time that I had to take a long test on a computer just to get into this trade school, since it had math on it, as well as English. I wasn't worried about the English part of the test, just the math. But, I came in almost in tears of stress going into the school, worried about failing the test, but guess what... I got above the average scores on the English and math parts of the test, and so, I got to move on to the next step. The next step won't be as hard as I thought the test would be, because it's just about financial stuff, and other information the school needs. I'm hoping to take one course at a time, just so I don't have too much hanging over my head. I already know some of how to use Maya, which is what I have said they use for 3d stuff there. I also like to make art on my computer using Paint Shop Pro, which is close to PhotoShop with most of the features... or so i've heard. Everyone in my family was congradulating me for my efforts on the test, which I did very well on. I myself, felt very confident as I walked out of the school. By the way it's called Mildred Elly, and there is also a game company somewhere near my family's house, and that's called Vicarious Visions. Sorry if I misspelled the game company's name or the school's name. But, anyway, I feel great that I didn't fail the test, and got above average scores on all the parts of the test... and I guess I got stressed over something I should have felt confident in, in the first place. The two places, Mildred Elly, and the game company are the only game school and game company in my area, and I don't want to go too far from home, just to go to school or, someday, work.

You could come by and just leave short little notes on what you're learning and how the class is going.

Good for you, college is a big step, yet a very important one. It took me till I was nearly 24 years old before I took the step. I enjoyed my time there, taking courses became part of my routine for many years after completing my associate degree. Now at nearly 52 years, once again I am back, I finished up my bachelors, and I am now working on the masters.

Free advise: get a job and pay for as much of your education as you go as you can. Take as few loans as you can, if you qualify for grants, get them, they help. This is a big step in life, take it seriously, you are going to be spending a bit of money and you do not want to waist it. But have some fun and enjoy the ride, life is a beautiful thing.

Congradulations on making the first step.

Small question Tam

Over here in Britian we leave school two years earlier than Americans, we go from school > College (Sixth Form College) > University, are you going to a university or a sixth Form College?

@everyone - As much as I like 3d modeling using Maya (version 2011 at the college), I usually get drowned with homework, but the homework is usually easy for me, at least for now. That's because the homework right now involves reading a book about Maya with projects to complete, and although it takes more than 2 hours or so to complete the reading so I can follow the projects I make throughout the book, it's still easy for me. Although I heard that the techniques used will become more advanced soon, I am ready for that kind of challenge, because I was almost the only student in the very small class that actually learned Maya, starting when I was in my early teen years. Everything in the single class I'm taking now is going well as of this week and other weeks in the beginning.

Also, I just recently posted something I think I might have figured out how to make in TrueSpace:
A way to make custom BVH "motion capture" using TrueSpace
vi ... f=8&t=2150

I don't know what you mean by a Sixth Form Collage, but I'm probably not going to that or even a university. It's a small school, but still considered a collage (I think).

Do you mean, community college tamtam?
That's great that you are using Maya in your coursework. Lucky! :)
