liv lives

Post by seejay »

I have finally returned to 3d after a long time out. I wasn't paying much attention to what has been going on with truespace, but I'm glad it's still alive and well. Nice to be on this new forum, and well done to all concerned.
To get myself back into the way of things, I resurected my last project: which has been languishing in limbo for about a year. A bit of time away refreshes the eye, however.
Still much to be done. Been working on the face mesh, and have only rigged up the other details for the sake of these renders.
Good to be back.
Cheers

First, let me say kudos on choosing the sublime Liv Tyler as your "project". No doubt many a man has tried and failed... 8-)

Speaking as one who knows intimately every nook and cranny, dimple and dent, angle and curve, and plane and facet of Liv Tyler's face, (from years of adoring observation), there's one thing I know for sure.

It's all about her mouth.

Sure, the eyes are angelic and slightly hooded, the nose straight, small, and perfect, the face shape flawless. But what stands out about her is those lips.

It's the overbite.

She's one of those rare beauties whose overbite causes her upper lip to dominate her lower lip, without diminishing it. The upper lip clearly pooches out a little. But not enough to make the lower one look receded. Both lips are full and defined, yet the upper is more prominent than the lower.

And, more to the point, it not only swells out, it also tends to slightly bulge downwards as if to overlap and squeeze on the lower one, even at the outer edges. It's an extremely elusive feature, and hard to pinpoint. But it's what makes her face unique, I think.

Just an aficionado's gratuitous observation. :bananacool2:

Latest update.
Much attention to the mouth, but general tweaking all over. As Kust says, the lips play a major part in her appeal, and he seems to know intimately.

Realised where I was going wrong when I found some new references. Cheeks and nose were the problem. I think the face looks 'softer' now, and more realistic. Hope it's not just me who thinks so.

Hi, Amazing work! Seems that only me cannot do good faces :D
Yeah, looks better with the smoothing :bananathumb: , I haven't learn yet how to do faces, do you recommends any good Tutorial, I know that internet have a lot but I'm looking for good, if you know post here :bananahi:

Thanks

PS: Just a possible improvement... Try add a small like-water ''sheet'' in the eyes, it makes more realistic (with that shine and liquid). I don't know if it works completely but if you want, try... :geek:

the nostrils look better. good work. i start a new thread to do a base for a head with simple object. The goal is to use it to make quickly different headers from the same object and use SDS. It will be nice to see a wireframe of your work before the use of SDS. Thank

Here's the wire as requested. I will gradually reduce the polygon count as I probably have a few unneccessary loops.

thank. As i explain in my thread, when we use a loop to add a vertice for a detail of the head, a lot of new edges from the loop are not necessary. This is why you need to reduce the polygons count.

Really nice modelling, and looks like her allot! Wish I had modelingskills and the patience like that.
