What kind of forum is this????

Post by ranger0101 »

Is this a workspace side forum.. where model side and older version discussion is not welkome??? :|

Or is this a TrueSpace forum like califorum.. Whare all TrueSpace questions and disscussions are welcome??? :|

I just refered a person to a tutorial on Southpark Reloded... As the person wanted to know how to model and animate
Southpark charecters.

Then i was told I was wrong for doing this because "This is a model side forum and all disscusion should be cept to this topic alone... :|

I need some clarification... and spelling lessons

Cheers

Clarification:

Is not Workspace only and is not Truespace Only..

Why not WS only?
Cos there still many people working in model side.. there's a lot of great tools in that side and cos we can still use model side in many aspects (professional and not professional)

Why not only for truespace?
Cos Truespace was abandoned, paused, etc.. We can use Truespace for a life time, but the 3D industry still working and progressing.. we can't stay in here crying and looking how others make amazing stuff with other software..

Ranger,

I read the post you are refering to and I think there was some confusion. It is not the forum as whole that was referenced when they replied about your post but the section of the forum the comment was placed in.

The Tutorial section is split into Workspace and Modelside. You posted the modelside tutorial in the workspace section. I don't think it was a big deal just giving the new poster a heads up on what to expect from the tutorial if they are not familiar with TS And the way it is split in two.

Thanks Podigy :) and Karthogen :)

Thats what I thought about the forum....

And I apoigise to Firstlight and ladee7bug for my mistake  .. I did not realize it was a workspace catagory.. That being the case he was exactly rite.
I would say though most 3d tutorials are good to wach... even if they are not for the program you are using... Many times usefull knoladge and inspiration can be transfered to the program you are using.

But in closing I do stand corrected.

Hi ranger0101,

Please don't take my earlier post personally. My only desire was to help the original poster. Thank you for responding!

Regarding older training courses and tutorials, I think we need to remember who we're writing to. When someone who is totally new to trueSpace begins to ask for help, they will probably be confused if we direct them to an older course or tutorial because what they see in the training video won't match what they see in trueSpace 7.61.

I agree that older courses and tutorials can still teach and inspire us. We just need to be sensitive to newbies who are starting out. At the very least, we need to find out which version of trueSpace they are using because they may be using 7.61 Standard and not have a Model Side or Bridge.

Personally, I wish we had some beginner-level training courses for trueSpace 7.61. We don't and we need them because this Model Side / Workspace Side thing is bewildering to newcomers who are new to 3D software.

Finally, for the benefit of others who may read this, I'll list the forums offered here at United3DArtists (tSCommunity):

    New Users
    Tutorials
      • Tutorial requests
        Truespace Workspace
        Truespace Model Side
    Off Topic...
    Forum Requests
As shown above, some forums, themselves, contain additional forums. I suppose we could call them "subforums" but they are really just nested "forums". The two highlighted in orange are the only two that limit discussion to either the Workspace Side or the Model Side of trueSpace. All of the rest of the forums are open to discussion of any Side. In fact, the goal of United3DArtists is to eventually attract users of other 3D programs. As this begins to happen, I expect the Tutorials forum to be subdivided further to serve more 3D programs---we'll probably have to rename the trueSpace Tutorial forums as "trueSpace Workspace Side" and "trueSpace Model Side" so it will be clear which 3D program they refer to. EDIT: The name changes were implemented today. Plus a general-purpose "Tutorial request" forum was also added underneath "Tutorials".

Why divide the Tutorials forum into a Workspace (Side) forum and Model Side forum? Answer: To reduce confusion for members looking for instruction. Any of the other forums can be used to discuss both Sides within the same topic or thread.

I think there are going to be a lot of people coming here looking for Truespace advice for a looooong time yet, Prodigy, now that it's available free!!

I still can hardly believe I got such an amazing piece of software for free. Almost feel guilty! :D

I'll bet you this forum is up and running for a long time to come, and that you guys will continue to get annoying questions from hopeless newbies like myself, for years to come.

And thank goodness you experts are here, or we'd all go nuts! :worship:
