truePlay Default Scene Replacements
The Default opening scene which shipped with the final version of truePlay (truePlay2.0B1) was crippled before it was released, whether intentionally or not the fact remains. Not only was the shared space portal script cleared of any portal designation in the script rendering it inactive, but I have tried this morning many different ways of entering the ports at FrooServer to at least have the script go there, and it doesn't. This is the script in the "Amphi" object of the default truePlay opening scene named "DefauIttP.RsScn" which used to connect to the Caligari truePlace MeetingRoom by default when clicked.
I need someone with greater post-751 scripting familiarity to help me create a truePlay launch script I can attach to offline objects which will aim truePlay at a specified online portal, and if possible with their default name and password in a float panel so they have the option to change either of those before it simply whisks them off to the designated portal or they hit the "Go" icon in the panel.
The reason this is vital right now, is that I am attempting to create an assortment of viable new multi-purpose truePlay Desktop launchers for The OurPlace Project. We used to be able to simply launch from desktop scene to online shared space portal without any issues, and at the moment without the NEW IMPOSED necessity of doing so through a panel rather than a clickable object such as Caligari's original "Amphi" launcher in the default truePlay scene, and that was far more elegant than this clunky approach.
One of the major points in having shared spaces is "immersion," look at any online popular PROFITABLE multi-user games and that fact stands out clearly, as it does when examining any expensive multi-user online business environments. "Immersion" is key, vital to many, including me.
I can make scenes immersive, no problem there, but the simple functionality of being able to click through from an offline scene where you are alone into a multi-user online scene which is the major point of shared space really needs to be addressed and made more elegant, far more fluid than it is now.
Three other important considerations in replacing the default trueplay opening scene are these:
1) The default scene is needlessly crippled anyway, the links are dead and the scene rendered useless.
2) We need not place true-Play specific bug-fixing methods server side in scenes, we can simply do that in a default opening truePlay scene clientside, they have to open truePlay anyway, why not place the wire bug solutions there? makes sense to me, unless we are clicking through from a web link to a shared space, in which case if truePlay is launched that would be necessary on the serverside. By the way.... we need updated web code to do that now, or at least I forget how.
3) HUGE SCENES that are mindblowingly beautiful **can if you want** be created offline and used with truePlay as a deeply interactive immersive desktop. Thay can be well over 5 meg, as much as 50 meg per local scene offline on your hard drives can be easily rapidly navigated with truePlay. You can launch any programs you like from inside them, launch google searches inside them or web links anywhere on the web, open any associated filetype on your system inside it's associated program, and even (if we fix this problem) once again use scripted objects inside these scenes to click and port to any multi-user shared space in the world.
These offline scenes can also be interconnected with a scene switching trigger so you walk from one scene to another on your hard drive, as many scenes as you like... gigs worth if you want).
Also, if we get very good at making these and resources for these in the OurSpace Project together, these unique desktop immersive interactive windows desktop / truePlay scene collections CAN BE SOLD by each of us worldwide.
We can and should create "Interactive Libraries" using the scripted book objects I already created for the tP Desk scene and made available to everyone, for instance. Music launchers, playlists... video? why stop anywhere?
first though... I need a simple scripted launcher of portals i can use offline for this, and the less intervening panel input the better, even if that means creating open permissions on a test portal online to achieve that, and then greater permission scrutiny from that portal to the next on the same server or others.
Can someone help me with this?

Re: truePlay2 Default Scene Replacements
Here is a modified default truePlay scene. A truePlay user would have to replace their default scene with this one of the same name. Default location is C:\truePlay2.0B1\RS Data\DefaulttP.RsScn
Includes the tP2 Desktop fix that runs automatically when a user opens tP2.

Re: truePlay Default Scene Replacements
Here is a Windows Shortcut that opens FrooSpace with truePlay.
User would have to enter User Name and Password in the Network panel.
The address is not needed.

I have added Unselect and Play Animation buttons to the Desktop panel. I have also changed the scene a bit and the Mouse over scripts.

Re: truePlay Default Scene Replacements
Wow... well done trueBlue!
I just unzipped and loaded this in truePlay, I love the look and feel of it, very very nice!
Feels open now with the skydome too!
You know, this one should get it's own sticky thread at the top of the Caligari Forum truePlay sextion while the forum there still exists!
Excellent work, love it !
